Colm 'Gooch' Cooper

Seamus 'Shaq' O'Neill
Eoin 'The Bomber' Liston

Some great stories of how they got also known as, many fictional.

Anthony 'Larry' Finnerty named after Fat Larrys Band following a good summer in the US.

There's loads more aka's, in many cases the story behind the name is better than the name!

Please add any good ones and/or good stories behind the names.

Darach "Jigger" O Conner - His auld fellas nickname
Dermot "Brick" Molloy
Christy "Magnus" Toye - Mainly hear the McGees use this one so it might be a personal thing.

I'm sure there are others from the current Donegal team but cant think right now.

Tom Cunniffe is often called 'Turbo' by his club and county team-mates, as he was a cross-country champion in school and is generally pretty quick across the grass. Think Keith Higgins is 'Zippy' for the same reason.

He is Ashure. But I'd love to hear how he was so named.

There must be some good names for players known as tough men on the pitch. Diarmuid 'The Rock' O-Sullivan, aptly named.

Anyone know of nicknames for Gerry McEntee, Brian Lohan, Mick Lyons or John Mullane?

Open to correction on this but Eamonn Callaghan seemingly got his nickname 'Leper' straight from a dictionary. Most of the team at the time had nicknames and it was decided to get Eamonn his from a random page and place in the dictionary !

Prefer to think of him as 'untouchable' in terms of flair and talent!

Sure it's a well known fact that Chuck Norris wears Tom Cunniffe pyjamas!

Funniest one I know of is the nickname given to our own goalie Conor "Frano" Gilsenan. Google him and you'll see why!!

I heard a story about how Michael 'Brick' Walsh got his aka.
Apparently his oldest brother is known as 'Block'.
Michael then became known as 'Brick', and has a younger brother who then became known as 'Slab'
