Aidan O'Mahony

You could see Daragh O'Shea was mad with himself from the t.v. pictures of him sitting in the players area. He knew he was going to miss the final. So maybe the advent of the replay will save him. I hope he has finally learned his lesson as its not his 1st time.

Just an afterthought but didn't O'Connor look almost as ridiculous as O'Mahony with his slap on O'Mahony's cheek. I've been trying to figure out why a grown man would slap another like this but can't figure it out. I mean, if he's angry with O'Mahony he could, in the heat of the moment, be excused for punching him. Now, people I've discussed it with have argued that he knew he'd get sent off if he punched so he downgraded to a slap...however, I'd say that he should know that when you strike (in any fashion) you're liable to walk. The slap was an embarrassing compromise and, in my opinion, reflects poorly on O'Connor. I thought I'd raise this as he seems to be off the hook on this forum. His behaviour was as bad as O'Mahony's.

i looked at it about 100 times and still its the same strike to the face is an immediate red card - whats the problem

Get a grip! It was a straight red card offence!

To reply to mastermagnier on Tyrone's legacy of winning and also
because I'm so tired of being reminded by Tyrone supporters
of the only two times they did beat us in either a Championship Final or Semi-Final

yes I know the Final in 2005 and Semi in 2003

But seeing as they are in that habit of quoting history here's a little bit of
Loosing history for you which might open people's eyes

Of the 4 remaining team's in the Championship here is the
Actual record of match appearance and losses

Team Final Semi
=====================
Tyrone 2/4 6/10

Cork 15/21 14/31

Wexford 3/8 2/7

Kerry 19/54 18/73

Bottom line is we don't loose too many semis..not as many as Tyrone or Cork anyway and we have appeared in more semi finals that all three remaining team combined and then some.

Sorry to say it but yes he did. Struck the man and that equals a red. Doesn't matter how he was provoked. Glad he will get back for the final. Great player who deserves to play in the final.

P.S. So did Donnacha O'Connor deserve one. He also struck. Rule is stricking or attempting to strick equals Red card. However O'Mahony doesn't deserve one as he struck no-one, at least not in that incident. Did look stupid though.

I like your bit of statistic work, Minish. Maths was never my strong point, but I reckon that Kerry are only marginally ahead of us on a percentage basis - but we are both well ahead of the others. Let's keep it that way on Sunday.
With regard to O'Mahony, he will have to live with the shame of his actions for the rest of his life. That should be enough of a sentence.
Note to all Kerry supporters: Stick around for our game and shout like hell for the Yellabellies!!!

when Padraig Joyce did it this year.. there wasnt a word.. it showed clearly he thumped a Mayo player.. to little effect.. the Mayo guy clearly struck joyce on the front of the shoulder, and Joyce goes down faster than a one legged man srpinting...holding his face... so it aint just Christiano o Mahoney... but hopefully this incident will put a stop to it, and that by sunday evening, we will be hopefully writing about how good the games where!

The decision to rescind Donnacha O'Connor's red card is shameful. He struck a player in front of the referee and the referee sent him off. End of story. The GAA has waffled about the need to show respect for referees yet they are the ones undermining them. Still, some good has come of this incident. It is now clear that slapping an opposition player is fine so at least that's cleared up one rule!

BTW, I thought Cork were one of the poorest teams I've ever seen in Croke Park last Sunday but I reckon they can't possibly be as bad again and will beat Kerry on Sunday by 5 or 6 points.

i dont know..Cork footballers seem to be jinxed in croker lately.. i still reckon Kerry will do a number on them, Tyrone to beat wexford, and that will set up a very interesting final!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Aidan, brilliant job yesterday.. It can't have been easy putting up with all the jeering from both Cork fans and players... Truly fantastic player!

A lot of controversey about very little! Good to see O'Se back for the final a he is one of the greats. I expect it to be a classic with different styles on show. I will not predict as it could go either way, Kerry have to be favourites going for 3-in a row, however I hope Tyrone wins.

PS I thought the ref made a few mistakes by giving the free to the incorrect team

Dingle dead right. Even saw John Hayes on the way down last night on the sunday game making diving gestures at him after he was fouled around the neck by O' Connor. Had a blatant free for him given against him that lead to a Cork score. Kept his head all day and showed what he is really all about.
