I just dont get it does Gavin search out microphones. He is interviewed before every game and after a lot of them.
I just dont get it its not as if he is flying. WOuld it not be better if he focused exclusively on his game? SHould TJ step in at this stage. He does more gaa journalism than Marty Morrissey

Really looking forward to this game and have a good feeling for a Limerick victory
The cats are not as good as they were but still a side capable of winning the All-Ireland. I think Limerick will bring a level of work-rate which will be on a par with Kilkenny, if not better. They have some excellent players throughout and they will be very determined to overcome last years poor semi final performance.

I think you can write off the Wexford games lads. Wexford put zero pressure on Limerick in QF. People here saying Limerick should bully KK but lets face it KK are a bit strong side and they are too cute to get suckered in. One thing that impressed me about Limerick aagainst Wexford was the direct running and pace of their forwards, that was the one factor the Wexford just had no answer too and they just crumbled once the score blew out. If Limerick want to win I believe the same tactics must apply. Direct running with pace. They will either open KK up or they will get some handy frees. If they try and beat KK with a points shootout I think KK will win it by 4 or 5. Limerick need 2 or 3 goals to win.

I think we (Limerick) have a chance on Sunday and that is all we could hope for at this stage. Kilkenny deserve respect, regardless of how they have played this year or last year.
Regarding the league, I would agree that we need Division 1 action to improve more but I do not buy anything into league form v championship form - they are poles apart. Last year 3 out of the 4 semi finalists were Division 1B, this year 2 are so that tells its own story.
Looking at the championship this year, Kilkenny have met a very poor Offaly side and beat them, they met a poor Galway side - lucky to draw with them and beat a poor team in the replay, they then beat a poor Dublin team so how battle ready are Kilkenny? It's difficult to say but I would never write them off as they are a class side and could switch it on this Sunday. Limerick, on the other hand, played poorly and were lucky to beat Tipperary in my opinion but beat them we did and in their own back yard so that deserves credit and Tipp are in the Semi Final, we then played Cork, who many consider to be All-Ireland favourites and we put them to the pin of their collar even though we were beaten by 2 goals, that game could have swung our way had we taken our chances but Cork are also Semi-finalists. Then on to the quarter final and Wexford, who beat the all -ireland champions. Lots has been said about Wexford and their form, number of games etc. but this is what I say - how would Cork or Kilkenny have played against Wexford that day and the answer I came up with is that they would have scored about the same and played similar hurling which all equates to us being on par with those teams and could we ask for much more than this?? I think not.
And so on to Sunday, we go up there without the unwarranted expectation of last year and I would hope we learned valuable lessons from last year. We have a very capable free taker and we have a strong midfield which will be a key battle. Our defence needs to be razor sharp and it can be and we have dangerous forwards so the scene is set. I would be concerned that we don't have the bench of last year but hopefully, that won't be a factor and it's not a bad bench, just not AS strong. If we bring our game and impose it, we don't need to be talking about keeping this guy or that guy quiet as with our game, that will happen naturally so the focus needs to be put on the correct side of this statement - play our game!
The only other thing I would like to see is media management! Our players should not be talking to the media, that's the management's job. Send out ex-players if needed but keep the players focused on the game and not soundbites.
A county holds it's breath!!

Ill informed? From the guy who watched tipp game 4 times n still didn't understand what happened. Also from the guy who thought an average wexford f forward line would bag loads a goals against us
That v thin ice to be calling ppl uninformed. Now there may be media requirements but our players are most interview in c ship hurling or football. That is a fact.
Kk wheeled out Noel hickey n carter yesterday. Why can't we do similar with Kirby Carey mcdonagh houlihan etc.
Cody will manage media and so should we. Looks to be much improved actually though we still few days out .
This is not rocket science just look back 51 weeks for any evidence u require.

You make a few points in your post that don't stack up. One about unrealistic expectation/pressure on the team last year. I think there is even more pressure on this Limerick team this year than last year. They won Munster last year and expectations now are that they haven't progressed until they win the All-Ireland. You can see this trending on the Limerick form in particular. I think even before the year started Limerick supporters have had the expectation that they are on par with KK and Cork. The disappointment of this years Munster final brought them back down to earth a bit but I think it has just heaped more pressure on them. I actually think KK would have hammered Wexford by more if they had played against them in the same game that Limerick did but Limerick did what they needed to do. Saying that they had a good break and came into the game pretty fired up and I am sure they felt they had to put in a very good performance. I don't think Wexford could have provided Limerick with worse preparation for this game. I think we have again given rise to a huge amount of expectation amongst the Limerick supporter, you guys just have to hope that the players can bring the verve to the game against KK that they did against us plus more.

I fancy Limerick for this and will be backing them as I did when they were ridiculous price against Tipp.
Of course the Cats are formidible but they are not as good as they were up to 2012 and any of the three teams left could beat them. That is not to say thay WILL beat them of course! But certainly Limerick are worth a punt at the odds.

Think you know very little about hurling if you can call the current Wexford full forward line average. Maybe not the best in Ireland but seriously average? Forwards cannot really do much if they don't get the supply. Think you are basing your stats on one very bad day at the office against yourself. I think we scored 2 goals in both games against Clare, 5 against Antrim, 3 against Waterford and 1 against both Dublin and yourselves.

Nick Limerick might think they are up to standard of Cork and Kilkenny and maybe they are the problem they will have though is that they wont be up to the standard of Tipp in the final Tipp didnt turn up in the first round of the championship but they are turning up now

Can't agree nick. Big problem last year was management fuelled the hype by assisting media open training sessions n taking cup round the county.
Things much more professional this year. Team n fans more comfortable with expectation. Last year was a disaster n cost is big time.
Funnily enough we got enough out of Munster final to be encouraged. We played well but ran out if steam. Most of us think we are at least on a par with cork.
I do agree that wexford could not have provided worse prep and that game should be completely forgotten about. Any of other 4 woulda beaten wexford by as much.
If our 2 established backs who have underperforming step up we will give as good as we get.

Nick goals against a Clare f back line that contains a player who was a mile off all year n goals against a poor w ford? That average to me I'm sorry.
I offered 200 euro 2 charity of wexford out goaled us n I expect us to get 2 goals. I'm happy with my assessment that u for ur less than objective point of view

No need for any more training or teamtalks for Limerick, Sunday's game is wrapped up, because Kilkenny have TWO players giving interviews on this site and in the papers today, which means they can't win because their minds aren't on the game. I'm sure all Kilkenny fans are disgusted at the fuelling of this media hype. Oh well, Kilkenny, fail to prepare...

And two interviews today, one apiece, from Ollie Moran and TJ Ryan also on this site. With TJ appearing in the Independent as well. And for good measure there's Eamonn Cregan in the Irish Times.

No harm at all having long retired players giving the press any old rubbish that runs into their heads, or even the manager, as long players generally speaking stay away from the sports journalists, that is fine

tiobraidarainn I think Tipp are a lot poorer than they are being made out to be. Callinan when they are on top and goes missing when he they're not. They will be beaten by an aggressive team that puts it up to them physically. So far they have lost to Limerick at home, beaten a very weak offaly side (these are the matches callinan shines in and racks up scores), Galway who were hockeyed all around the field by kilkenny in tullamore and and Dublin team who weren't at the races at all. You can only beat what is out in front of you but I feel these matches are deceiving and Cork will beat them on the 17th. If this Tipp team will only thrive when they are let, I dont think they have the bottle otherwise as can be seen from their record in tight, physical matches
