Time to take Tipp out of Semple!

Assuming my comment is published, I think its very unfair that Tipp hurlers are now about to play their third home match in championship, out of four games. Their only away match was against Offaly last weekend, when their footballers were also scheduled, funnily enough.

How often have other dual counties had footballers away to Cork on a Saturday and hurlers away to Wexford the next day. The GAA needs to take a close look at fixture making and fixture rigging, as no team should have this advantage. As I said in comment, they are basically becoming like Dublin footballers!

As for this crap about "home or hurling" is total nonsense. Any home team supporters will outnumber travelling by at least 3 to 1. As to how Tipp can be allowed this in 3/4 of their matches baffles me.

Barring ourselves Flanders I dont think any county cares about hurling in Thurles even v Tipp. Its a great place to hurl and a fantastic venue.

whats the differance the ground has grass and posts the same as any other
the only thing home advntage counts for is supporters as it means you dont have as far to travel
thurles is perfect for the all ireland quarter finals in hurling

'Who cares'!
'Who cares'!
'Who cares'!!!!!

.......The only ones who care about 'venue' and its supposed 'advantage' are the people who have no confidence in their own team and look for any aul EXCUSE!!!!

True champions (or true contenders for same) will take on 'ANYONE, ANY TIME, ANY PLACE' and hopefully with the oppositions best team out too and beat them!!

A playing pitch is just a bit of grass with lines and posts on it, and it does not matter one iota where it is!

Just to prove the point.....Thurles or Toronto, Dublin will beat Tipp and we will see then just how rubbish this 'loser attitude' argument really is!!

Flanders your post might be viewed as sour grapes since our boys were a few fries short of a happy meal. The Leinster c'ship is coming to Salthill next year so I think we have no complaints. Tipp are always gracious hosts for Galway and others.

Oh ya it's all a fix...... Tipp V Limerick home and away agreement, Tipp V Galway first team out of bowl has home advantage.

No not sour grapes. I was very conscious of that and didn't mention the game once. Just reading that they played Limerick, Galway and now Dublin at home, come on you can't say that it isn't hugely advantageous for them? Whether it's home/away agreement or luck of the draw, it certainly has worked out well for them.

I see paddy power have Tipp at 4/11.Sounds about right to me.If the game was in Croke Park Tipp would be 8/11 id say.The bookies are accounting for the home advantage for Tipp. And rightly so.No doubt its worth a few points.Tipp to win with a bit to spare.

Flanders what's your point exactly, so the home and away agreement should of being done away with because it was Tipp turn to be at home, the luck of the draw you say what about last year when we got KK in Nowlan park ? I really don't see what your complaining about, this game could as easily being in Croker which would of seen Dublin playing at home.

If your good enough you will win no matter where the venue is. Take the football qualifiers last weekend. In round 3 in section A all the away teams won.

There was at least one time Tipp shied from continuing a home and arrangement. That was in the mid 80s when Clare beat then in Ennis in 86 and drew with them in Thurles in 87. Tipp insisted on not contining the home and away thing for the replay and they destroyed Clare in Killarney and Tipp were dead right. Our idiot Co Board insisted on going to Ennis despite the fact that they were winning about 75% of our games with Clare at neutral venues. Of course we lost on the vast majority of our trips to Ennis a fate that we richly deserved in the circumstances.

It's the way it goes. Lets not make an issue of it. The Dublin Region have home games in football. The cookie is crumbling Tipp's way in the hurling. Tipp and Limerick have a home and away arrangement for starters. Tipp had luck of the draw for other home ties. The way it goes. Thurles is the traditional venue now for the quarter-finals. Many are aware of it at the start of the championship. Many teams gain an opportunity to play there, including the Kingdom of Kerry who won the 2A title there this year and sadly lost out to Offaly there in a 1B play-off.

Antrim footballers played Fermanagh in Enniskillen on the same day as their hurlers played Wexford in Portlaoise.

As for home advantage - it is utter horse to say it is not an advantage - home advantage is a massive advantage in any sport from familiarity to backing etc.

Celtic in the Champions League have beaten Barcelona, AC Milan, Man U, Juventus among others - dont tell me home advantage was not a factor here.

Flanders I am not sure why so many are disagreeing with your comment and all the posters here who said that playing at home is not an advantage are either stupid or not telling the truth. In any sport being at home is a big advantage. Ask the Cork hurlers why they tried so hard to have the Munster final in Cork last weekend.

Dublin have only beaten Tipp in Tipp once in my life time and that was in 1989 in Nenagh. So we can't be very optimistic! Having said that this is the game that will define them. I love going to Thurles for big match days so no complaints here. Should be great atmosphere especially if the Wexicans are playing Limerick as Wex will bring huge crowd. And Doyler will stay back to shout for the Dubs :-)
