The Garth Brooks Fiasco

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I heard if you shout abuse at Garth for 10 minutes he will burst in to flames or if you put a wee dab of mustard on his backside he will run til he dies of exhaustion. Any truth in these rumours? In the interest of all the people of Ireland (and probably the world) if/when the concerts go ahead, can someone on here who is going please stand at the front of the stage and just shout abuse at him for at least 10 minutes to see if this is true. A wee video would be appreciated too. Thanks and happy 11th July to all - be safe at your bonfires.

An email I just got from a mate...

This is what happened yesterday while the focus was on Garth Brooks…!

"They waited three years for the Bill, and then were given little more than three hours to debate it, with no scrutiny by committee beforehand, a move the Government had pledged for all legislation."

Is that the way to run a Democracy? Behind closed doors and out of public scrutiny?
We now have a bill passed into law that essentially allows foreign banks (German state's promotional bank KfW), the European Investment Bank and the National Pension Reserve Fund to lend to SMEs without risk. They lend and if the loan defaults, WE PAY.
That's €4 Billion on the hook for whatever ventures these banks see fit to fund. Imagine Hans hunting through your books and making sure you perform to their wishes while they never assume any risk.
Thanks to the Darth Brooks Circus and our willingness by the media and some in Government to keep it going, this travesty, unnoticed by us all, made it through the Oireachtas without debate and without proper scrutiny...

and to think people were worried about the potential losses of €50 million.

Try €4 BILLION

I hope as many of those who missed out can see him abroad and spend their money in a country that deserves it. I sure will :)

I think Mr Brooks will have lost himself alot of fans because of his behaviour in all this. was there not only supposed to be 2 concerts originally and then people wanted more and more tickets so they added 3 more. but Now He says he can only do 5 Well he was prepared to do 2 originally so what's changed. who the hell does he think we are ? some sort of gullible people who believe everything we are told by powerful rich people.. ?

Finally this cesspool of a situation looks to be over and as expected nobody comes out of it looking good, just one big cock up, take a bow everybody.

It depends what way you look at it. What has changed? well the change came when he managed to sell 5 gigs in Croke Park to 400000 people. That's a massive change. Adding to the fact that initially he only planned a regular shows and then when he thought 5 gigs were coming he changed it into a massive spectacle.

He realised that he has a lot of fans in Ireland and he didn't want to disappoint any of them. At the end of the day it was everyone else who made a mess of it and its his right to play it whatever way he wants. I had tickets but at this stage I was glad it was cancelled. The country made a mockery of the whole thing and everyone involved should hang their heads in shame. All the fun was taken out of it so at this stage I'm pleased to get my money back.

Ill head off now for a few days elsewhere and spend my money there because at this moment Ireland and Especially Dublin don't deserve it.

400,000 fans disappointed. Countless small businesses out of pocket. 50,000,000 Euro lost to the Irish economy.

A monumental victory for Ireland of the narrow minded, whinging begrudgers.
