A shambles...........an embarrassing totally avoidable shambles that has cost our economy millions, in these trying times any occasion that would boost the coffers should be embraced wholeheartedly, what was it Dessie O'Malley said "in the national interest" well not everyone had the national interest at heart here, applying and enforcing proper conditions would have made life easier for the residents concerned, outnumbered as they are it appears by those in favour of the concerts, instead we have a complete balls made of it all, only in Ireland!!!!

Ah t'was a mighty cock up alright, a spectacular cock up and nobody comes out of it looking good, evey single party is to blame at least to some degree.

Disgraceful that a few disgruntled people got to deny the majority of people the ability to see the singer and local people and businesses to get a much needed financial lift. Complete farce given that many other locals there were just recently voicing their opinion that they very much wanted the concerts to go ahead.

If you have an agreement of three non Gaa events a year andyou hold four tthat's pushing your luck yet the residents let them off then what do the geniuses do they slap them in the face and push five more nights all in a row and what's worse don't even apply for the license before selling the tickets. What's even worse Aiken promotion and brooks knew that for a long time now that they were only getting three nights and dug there heals in long before it became public knowledge.

hill it is more or less impossible to apply for a licence before selling tickets for such events for a huge number of reasons, including because you have no idea how many might come to it, a key part of any licence application. Brooks was only due to play 2 nights but the demand from the Irish public and foreign fans was far greater than expected when they started selling tickets. Almost every event like this in the UK and Ireland sell the tickets before applying for the licence.
As you seem to be familiar with the local area, do you think most residents will be disappointed if Croke Park cant afford to go ahead with plans to spend the €11 million on redeveloping the rat infested Croke Park Villas, or are they just happier to avoid the hassle of the concerts and leave the place as it is?

hill its the nature of licensing law in Ireland that you sell tickets etc before getting the license. Part of reason you always hear on ads for events on tv/radio that the events are "subject to license"

It would appear that Garth only one that seems blameless according to his fans. I'd say a certain man in slane is rubbing his hands , the world tour instead of starting in Ireland will finish next august in it. In Meath on a number of days.

the only reason croke park is getting involved in croke villas is because it absolutly had to at this stage.
croke park has shown total disregard to ballybough community with the whole ordeal over the community centre
so i think if they can claim to be doing anything good for that community its only to smooth over other problems.
croke villas is a health hazard no doubt about that but there is a benifit to croke park in redevloping it theres an angle.
the concerts cause massive disruption compared to a gaa match and the clean up is far worse.
i dont think the residents would have a massive problem with allowing more than 3 events a year if it was agreed that they were
spaced out not all on top of them

1614514 Naysayer, the congestion and parking problems in Belfast city centre are caused by irresponsible, selfish culchies driving up to the city in single occupant cars and who park where they want because they won't pay for car parks.

Same said Culchies pay their road tax, are parking around the city centre to go to work to keep the economy moving and pay their income tax and best of all as a result have as much of a right to avail of the street parking around Belfast.

I would actually argue that they have more of a right than those in the many houses beside said street parking who are not working or paying road tax. Even if these residents owned their houses they do not own the road outside. I know of people who pay residents to park outside their house and the residents leave out cones to stop others parking (good business selling something you do not own!)

What is disgusting is the threats that the residents throw out and the vandalism to vehicles that goes on as a result of their totally wrong claims to the roads around their houses.

I would say the residents would have no problem with concerts every night of the week if they were being thrown a sweetner.
