Well done to Longford I didn't see that result coming, thats two ulster teams exited the championship and my own county hasn't kicked a ball.

What a result for Longford. Really felt Derry were shaping up to have a good year by getting a run in qualifiers. Ye never know sometimes but in fairness Longford seem to have Derrys beating last few years no matter what.

Amazing result!! Fair play to Longford. Will be interesting to see if they can build on it.

Just proves the point further that league form means absolutely nothing.

Just shows how easy it is for Kerry to be competitive every year with only Cork to worry about in a Munster final. Compare that to Longford having to beat Wexford, Dublin and either Meath or Kildare to win a Leinster title. The provincial system is so unfair and outdated.

Every year there are shocks and we could have some more before it's all over. It's easy to talk in hindsight but let's face it ::on here a few weeks ago a lot of posters were tipping Derry to beat Donegal, to be honest I was afraid of them myself as I did not quite know what to expect of Donegal. Now from what I saw it looks like Donegal /Monaghan will carry Ulsters hopes this year-and I'm confident enough of either team doing well in the later stages if both or even one get there Good luck Longford and very disappointed for Derry

Derry have not shown great form in the back door recently and it does look like Donegal / Monagahan are the main Ulster threat. Tyrone may also make the last eight as they actually take the back door seriously and have a great record in these games (Including a hard fought win over an impressive Longford in 2011).

Fair play to Longford.

Don't know if it is a huge shock. Derry were totally overrated coming into the championship, they have only one good forward.

Correct.

Two Leinster vs Ulster games this evening and two Leinster wins. A Laois victory wasn't exactly unexpected and Fermanagh made them work for it out but Longford beating Derry is a shock. I don't want to open another debate on this subject but it is a reminder that even though Dublin have dominated the Leinster championship, they are some good sides there who are well able for a lot of teams. Pat Spillane should make note of this the next time he goes on about how easy Dublin have it, would they have it any more difficult elsewhere?

Yeah just like Nigeria beating Bosnia last night shows that Africa is on a par with or better than Europe.

1998 was the last year since Derry won Ulster and this will set them back again I thought they might go places this year and I thought they were in a good group to advance to the last 12. Then again Longford have a bit of an edge over Derry but can they now push on and win a few games.
Now when we were predicting early on who would win what I had Derry up as a team that could go a long way as I thought they would beat Donegal What I would say now is any team harbouring ideas about winning their provincial title or Sam will have to be well prepared, have unity in the squad , be well drilled and organised. A good game plan is important plus you also need luck. I would think the AI now lies between Dublin, Mayo,Donegal and Monaghan

I'm talking about this year and i honestly can't see Cork/Kerry having a big say Don't fancy either of them for the AI. That's my opinion.

Great result by Longford last night. They have some fine forwards but their weakness is they're not ruthless enough in taking chances (we were fortunate to beat them in the league last year) and the missed goal chances in that 1st half last night could have been costly.

Longford are definitely Derry bogey team. That is there 3rd time beating Derry in the Qualifiers. Also beat them in 2006 and 2012.

Midfield & winning our own kickouts has long been our footballers' problem.

Folks, demise of Derry I hear you all saying.........let's put this into perspective. Derry went into last nights match against Longford missing 6 players from the starting line up against Donegal and add in the fact that Gerard O'Kane was carrying an injury. No county in Ireland could cope with missing 6 quality players from the starting 15. This is not an excuse but reality. Saying that, Longford played with attitude, hunger and desire and totally deserved their victory.

With so many changes Derry just looked totally dysfunctional in the full-back and half-back line and Longford continually took advantage of poor defending. To summarise, Derry lacked composure, intensity and some of our more experienced players failed to perform and that's the crooks of the defeat.

Well played to Longford and Goodluck and continued success in the Qualifiers. For Derry another long summer of soul searching, hopefully some year soon we will live-up to expectations.

Mighty shock. To beat a team more than a division above is some result.

Can't see how this is a shock result at all. Derry are not a championship team.
