Munster hurling final venue

That is a fair comment. problem i Limerick is the best stadium but does not get a fair split of games. Clare vs Cork should have been there last week.

lowballplease seems to think that the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick is one of the premier stadiums. Nothing could be further from the truth, it is nowhere near the standard of Thurles or even the Park if the truth be known. The match should stay in Cork end of story and now we will have the Kerry lot jumping on the bandwagon. Outside of Tipp other counties should stay out of it and this argument about crowds, what about Tullamore for Kilkenny v Galway capacity about 20,000 at a shove or Portlaoise?

In fairness Awbeg I'd agree. The Gaelic Grounds is a poor stadium. The Mackey stand is probably the worst stand to view a game from. The stand should have a much higher elevation. However Paric Ui Chaoimh poses serious issues from the terraces there is a H&S issue. The seating in the covered stand must be the worst in Europe. I'll go to the Munster Final no matter where it is played but the main objective must be the safety of everyone at the game. Stadium disasters are not uncommon and as i stated earlier on this forum there have been too many close calls recently in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. We have seen people left on to the pitch twice in recent years.

Awbeg you must not get out much. Limerick is a super stadium, i would say it is the best in Munster. Thurles is old now and in need of renovation but still number two in the province. Lets not start on PUC, a complete dump.

What do you mean by outside of Tipp?

The bull if the depth of the mackey is in question at least we have proper seats to sit on in it. Anyway i prefer the lovely uncovered stand and the fine new terraces where the depth is exceptional. Won't matter where we play ye anyway, Limerick will be winning and that is all that counts.

limerick and thurles should do munster hurling and killarney is also available if needed. why commit funds to another stadium with alternatives available? its madness.

we stupidly built pearse stadium in galway when it was in the corner of the province. hyde park in roscommon is in the centre of connacht and should be our Clones like they have in ulster.

Judging by your county board's comments over the past few days it does matter where ye play us, seems quite important to them actually.

Murmurings going around that this could be fixed for Croke Park as a once off final on July 13th. It's free for that weekend too.

Limerick brought over 35k fans to croker last year and cord bought over 25k anyway maybe more for the semi v Dublin.

Add in neutrals and you'd get over 60k at this I reckon maybe more depending on hype, advertising etc.

How would you react to this? Personally if I was from Cork I wouldn't mind considering they will get their finals when the new pairc is built.

Hoover87 the Gaelic Grounds is far from the best stadium in Munster. It is a poor stadium with no real exceptional viewpoint to see the game. You have to park in the city centre on a big match day which is a good 20-25 minute walk from the ground. Pairc Ui Chaoimh with all the criticism levelled at it is only a 15 min walk from the South Mall.

I'd rather Fitzgerald or Semple Stadium but you probably wouldn't go to Fitzgerald Stadium seeing how flaky Limerick supporters really are.

I don't see ye winning Munster either. Patrick Horgan was the difference last year and you know it well

Would love it if it was i Croke Park, like the milenium for an FA Cup final, something different.

That's not even slightly true.

Our support, i don't think Limerick's support for the success we manage can be questioned. Limerick travel in massive numbers. Probably second to Cork and per ratio of population the best supported team in the country, the prosecution rests its case.

Now onto the other point.

The difference last year was ye had a gale in the first half, made no use of it and were beaten by 9 points by the better side, added to that bar one really nice score Horgan was shackled with ease by the limerick defense. Ye were lucky it was only nine. We will bring the curtain down on PUC on the 13th against this very much over hyped Cork team.

Oh and he deserved to see red, you know and i know he was so far off it was untrue but the cute Cork boys went out with the "ah poor Patrick is a fine chap and would harm no one lark", balderdash.

RebelCork playing 35 min of a game with 14 men on an extremely hot summers day makes an immense different. If you regard this to be not even slightly true you must have unrealistic high expectations of these players fitness and conditioning.

Limerick won by 9 points. Horgan scored 4 before half time and the game was fairly close. This had a major impact on Corks ability to challenge. Look at the difference he made last Sunday. He is an exceptionally skilled hurler. I'd say playing a half with 14 men on that kind of a day hands a massive advantage to any opposition

Rebel, Oliver Mann stated we owe ye a game and we will honour it even though ye don't have a stadium which is capable of holding the anticipated crowd, that is not Limerick fault that PUC is not suitable for a final at this moment.

Have read some of the posts here but just wanted to say if Pairc Ui Chaoimh is only at 32-34K seats (I've heard a mate tell me that there are parts of the ground unsafe but I am not sure) then if Cork were willing it would be good to play the game elsewhere.

If Cork is at full capacity, there is a home & away agreement in place and we need to respect that. It would be great to see a huge crowd at whatever venue and the best side wins.

In terms of the best hurling venue in Munster, I'm a Limerick man through & through, but Thurles is the best hurling venue. I like our own stadium as it is home but Thurles is better in lots of ways. I've been to a lot of games there not involving Limerick and it generates a special atmosphere that is hard to match.

thurles is the best stadium to view any match from despite someone calling it old!!!!

it does need repair but not a whole lot as other grounds.

getting the planning permission is the problem.
