Hurling ....a game made by the people for the people, so lets not deny the people and move it to a bigger ground for the sake of the people. ImClass (Limerick) - Posts: 51 - 17/06/2014 16:43:59 1605183 Link 0 |
Pairc Ui Chaoimh holds 40,500 according to the CB, not much of a difference. Do ye honestly think it's fair to ask Cork fans to travel to Thurles for a fourth time this year? The Cork players were told before they even beat Clare the game would be in the Pairc, not fair at all to move it. RebelCork (Cork) - Posts: 789 - 17/06/2014 17:22:48 1605213 Link 0 |
34000k is the number been touted about, for a MSHF its not enough ImClass (Limerick) - Posts: 51 - 17/06/2014 18:12:25 1605230 Link 0 |
The Cork county board said it's 40,000, nobody seems to know who came up with the 34,000 figure. RebelCork (Cork) - Posts: 789 - 17/06/2014 18:16:17 1605232 Link 0 |
Would limerick give up home advantage if it was the other way around. Cork won't move on this and should not be forced to either, lets hope the real limerick supporters get the tickets not the bandwagon crowd that will jump on board. The gaa or County boards really need to bring a system with tickets, any one at the last game should get a ticket straight away. A loyalty card that gets swiped at every game would be the easiest way for the real supporters to get tickets. therealtmo (Tipperary) - Posts: 1292 - 17/06/2014 18:22:36 1605235 Link 0 |
Normally I'd be happy to agree that a game should be taken out of the park. But I think this one is special. Love it or hate it, the park creates a unique atmosphere. When it's half empty for some crappy league game, it's completely depressing. The lack of atmosphere around it makes it a very different experience to Thurles or Killarney. But when it's full, and the sun is shining, the cauldren like sides rising steeply from the palying surface create a wall of sound that you just don't hear elsewhere. The place almost literally heaves with each play of the ball. And when the anthem is played, and you look to the former homes of the imperial classes, peering down from Montenotte, you can't help but be proud of how Ireland changed, and of the people that chaneged it. We're still here, but their priviledge and position is long gone. Culchie (Cork) - Posts: 799 - 17/06/2014 18:22:59 1605236 Link 0 |
Amen to that, Culchie. But I've even enjoyed league games there. Tipperary, Kilkenny, Limerick and even Waterford. Teams that are mad to do us in our own back yard. But not even Kilkenny have managed it in recent times. Midleton (Cork) - Posts: 644 - 17/06/2014 19:10:26 1605251 Link 0 |
Heard some time back that the capacity now allowed in the ground is 38,000, but I can't remember where. I've spent about €250 to €300 on games in Thurles in the last few weeks. It has to be in P ui C or else Cork will never again enter into a home and away arrangement with anyone. jerryp (Cork) - Posts: 104 - 17/06/2014 19:17:00 1605253 Link 0 |
Jerryp how much of dat 250/300 would u have saved by the games being in Cork?Say 50e fuel money?Thurles can accomodate nearly 20000 more fans as ur own stadium is being refurbished.Cork supposedly love playing in Thurles so why not jut play the final there this year, and as soon as Pairc Ui Chaoimh is finished,Limerick owe ye a game there and ye can go back to yere homee and away arrangements. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 17/06/2014 19:32:37 1605258 Link 0 |
cuederocket, sur as ye lot well know playing at home is worth a few points in every game? tj09 (Cork) - Posts: 481 - 17/06/2014 19:48:59 1605270 Link 0 |
Yes Tj i agree its worth a few points but surely a 54000 packed Semple stadium is better than a 34000 Pairc Ui Chaimh?Back to yere home and away arrangements when the Park is finished, with Limerick owing ye a game there?34000 for a Munster hurling final is poor. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 17/06/2014 20:01:49 1605275 Link 0 |
Maybe have the game in Thurles but as Cork are supposed to have home advantage this year v Limerick, allocate 35000 tickets to Cork and approx 19000 to Limerick. At least that way,54000 get to see the game ,and it would have the feel of a home game for Cork. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 17/06/2014 20:10:50 1605279 Link 0 |
There isn't a chance they'd sell out Thurles RebelCork (Cork) - Posts: 789 - 17/06/2014 20:25:44 1605288 Link 0 |

Pairc Ui Caoimh is a safety hazard. They should play the match in Thurles or Killarney and let Cork have home advantage against Limerick when the new ground is ready. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 17/06/2014 20:40:50 1605293 Link 0 |

Of course they would sell out Thurles, the two most followed teams in hurling apparently. Cork always have a massive support in the hurling and now that Limerick are back in final they will have huge support to. therealtmo (Tipperary) - Posts: 1292 - 17/06/2014 20:59:26 1605303 Link 0 |
If capacity for PUC has been reduced to 34,000, as reported, it might make sense to play it elsewhere. This year should see a bumper crowd, better than last year, you'd hope to be able to get 45,000 at the game. Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 17/06/2014 21:00:09 1605305 Link 0 |
It should be played in cork but If the capacity is only 34000 it definitely should moved but cork should have first preference. This would be the same if any other two counties were in the Munster final.i hope the genuine supporters get the tickets whatever happens and they will. tubs12 (Limerick) - Posts: 41 - 17/06/2014 21:10:28 1605313 Link 0 |
45,000 is still 9,000 short of capacity in Thurles.Seen as though its a repeat of last years Munster final, and the big support both counties have, especially for finals,id say ud get 50,000 at game.Although the crowds are down a fair bit looking at the empty spaces in all games in Munster this year so far. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 17/06/2014 21:11:08 1605314 Link 0 |
