Ah fair play to Royaldunne. Himself and Htaem are two decent Royal fans. Looking forward to this match. Kildare by a couple of points.

I think in Kildare's case if you had the following : Johnny Doyle, the best players from the 1998-2000 period, Ollie Crinnigan from the 70s, Tommy Carew from the 60s, Larry Stanley & a few of his pals from the 1928 All-Ireland winning team, you'd have a team to challenge for all ireland. Maybe a few AN Others to be sure.

Honest to God lads, why do any of ye even bother reacting to royaldunne any more ?

Ah cheers OLLIE, hoping for a good one on sunday, we need the likes of Bray, the Reillys, O'Rourke etc to stand up and our younger players to really have a go to get a result in this one, certainly not impossible but it's going to be tough.

We're only about 15 players short of a team that could compete with the mighty Meath:

1 Ollie Crinnigan
2 Davy Dalton
3 Pa Connolly
4 John Crofton
5 Glenn Ryan
6 Jack Higgins
7 Mick Carolan
8 Larry Stanley
9 Pat Mangan
10 Johnny Doyle
11 Larry Tompkins
12 Jack Donnelly
13 Pat Dunney
14 Tommy Carew
15 Paul Doyle

Will make my final prediction when I see both teams named. But Meath might hold off naming their team.

Cheers for that Ollie. And unlike a few in Meath I hope for fans like yourself Louth put in a massive game v Tyrone. I don't think we would be up against it if we had full team. Now the injuries have weaken our hand, but I still see enough to get a win .

What about the great Bill Sex??? Jaysus I used to get fierce excited when I heard them shout " There's Sex on the field" terribly confusing for a young fella in the mid to late 80's

Really getting excited at this stage. What a boost going into final it would be if we won with a patched up team??

Look, if Meath had a full squad to choose from, I would be confident of a victory come Sunday. However, we are without Dalton, Gillespie, O'Sullivan and Wallace long term who, on their day, would all start. Coupled with the loss of Newman and possibly Keogan, we are without 6 likely starters. Many counties would consider this an injury crisis but I think we are just about staying afloat. Anyway, I doubt that these six have stood on the one field at the same time this year. Its not like they all played against Carlow and got injured. The injuries occurred at different stages allowing for a slow transition as opposed to drastic change. The return of Meade and O'Rourke along with Tormey stepping up to the mark is a big plus. So I'm hopeful of a win rather than confident. Another thing I want to mention is a point Colm Parkinson made on Off The Ball this evening. Even though he can still roam out the field, if Graham Reilly is wearing 13, he will be tightly marked by a corner back rather than being given more space and time by a wing back.

Well the teams have been announced. Meath make one enforced change. Plenty of positional changes. Menton at midfield with Shane moving to half forward line, although I'd say he'll play as a third midfielder, with biggy dropping back to half forwards and playing a 2 man forward line. McMahon tormey and biggy can cause serious damage Bray can also be very dangerous, Shane can take a point or two so can Meade and Menton, plenty of potential match winners and scorers from midfield up. The defense is strong looking, keoghan at center back has really tightened up that area, and while no doubt he is a fantastic corner back for this game he is probably best kept at cb, Young is the unknown I guess but he had a good championship debut so let's hope it continues

I'll be in early for this one really looking forward to it, keoghan at centre back is surprising considering how good he is in corner back I personally think if you've a corner back that good you leave him ,also Damian Carroll wing back wtf? I thought he was a centre forward? Surely Kildare will have to much for this weaken Meath team but you never know with Kildare.

Young and Burke may struggle against that big and mobile Kildare forward two.

Keoghan was excellent at cb on the league. To be honest he is as good a player in both positions.Problem is though,is that our corner backs are the weakest links on that team.As for Carroll,I would have had him wing forward to be honest.Still think Meath can win despite injuries, keep an eye on Bryan McMahon. But Kildare are favorites.

Both line ups seem to be lacking established and reliable freetakers. Who will deputise for Meath in this department for Meath? O rourke?
