Pre-match brawl

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just leaving Dublin. Can anyone confirm or deny that there was a huge brawl at Armagh v Cavan match during parade? With kids in band having to take cover? Is this true? Or is someone having a laugh. If there is a shred of truth to this I hope CCC takes serious action.

Yeah, CCCC looking into it. Dunne ended up in a sling.

Yes. A number of Armagh players assaulted Martin Dunne forcing him out if the game. A brawl ensued but no action was taken by officials.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this was premeditated following Dunnes match winning performance last year. Hope retrospective action is taken but that will be of little consolation to Cavan at this stage.

Aye it happened. Armagh lined up behind the Cavan flag for the parade. Cavan men ran over and tried to shove them into the stands. All hell broke loose after that.

The brawl happened right in front of me. I hope RTE cameras have everything. 2 Cavan players got Jamie Clarke on the ground and repeatedly kicked him on the ground. I don't mind men going one on one but when its two on 1 and them kicking a man on the ground its disgusting. I am not surprised Jamie or someone else ended up hitting out.

At first I thought it was a wind up, then thought it was been over hyped. But by radio and what I'm reading on here it all seems to be fact. I don't know who or what started this, but with kids on a pitch its a new low. Meath and Mayo got slated for a punch up in 96 with hefty bans and fines, but that was amongst players on a field. Nobody else in particular not kids. Shame on those that did this. I hope none of them play another minute of football this year.

Should make for very interesting viewing tonight, ok I haven't seen the incident but if it was that serious then surely a few lads should have been sent off.

Lets not reality get in the way of a good story heh? Cavan men started the row. It also erupted at the top of the parade when Dunne should have been at the back. It obviously shouldn't have happened but lets not be making stuff up.

Did Armagh players start this brawl to take out Cavans best player Martin Dunne?....why did armagh players take position under the Cavan flag?....A hollow victory for Armagh today if thats what their about!

The culprits are those on the sideline that send sides out with that mentality.

Again I'll say I have not seen this or anything I'm totally going on reports etc. But I have to say no one is denying this and that would suggest this is as bad as some say. Bans for whoever was involved and lengthy ones too.

Haha gota love people getting their knickers in a twist. Id say the kids will be alrite. I wasnt at that side bit I think armagh lined up behind tje wrong flag so cavan cavan took exception an then it kicked off. I doubt they waited for dunne. Its just that hes tiny an probably tried to mess with a big lad.Sure donaghy from armagh was bleeding from the nose , clarke was getting throen about an cavans keeper was lying on mallon.

Think this is a wait and see issue , sounds serious enough , but judgement of players and counties character shouldn't be taken lightly , Id expect as is the norm fans from each county to have a biased view , wondering if there were any neutrals there? Interesting to see what neutrals make after SG tonight , before seeing tonight Im hopeful its handbags , lets wait n see .

Wel surely armagh must take the brunt of blame given they lined up behind the cavan flag. Clearly any act to rattle Cavan and start a fight. Really hope the gaa come down very hard on this, no one wants to see top players on the sidelines because of a pre match brawl.

Can't believe armagh players didn't know the difference between orange and blue ,they knew rightly what they were doing standing behind the Cavan flag , unfortunaly Cavan fell for it ' harm was done inside the brawl where armagh knew nobody will probably see .orange and blue , night and day ,
