Newbies reaction to hurling on twitter

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just having a look on twitter here and some of the comments coming from people watching the hurling for the first time are comical, Here are a few of the best ones so far :)

-The Irish game of Hurling..cross between Hockey and Murder..

-See why people in Ireland call Hurling the quickest sport on Earth. Really enjoyable despite the match not been close. #SkyGAA

-Turned the hurling on for 13 seconds; 2 percentage balls whacked blind up the pitch, 3 human pile-ups.

-This is one of the strangest sports ever I have no clue what's going on #Hurling"

-Unreal how fun Irish Hurling looks on tele. Ice hockey, rugby and baseball all rolled into one

-Hurling on skysports 3. A hetero version of hockey. Well worth a watch!

-They say all keepers are mad but hurling keeper take the biscuit. No protection with baseballs been smashed at them #tapped #seriousballs

Nobody seeking approval from anyone. Great to see the hurling getting such praise. All the better for GAA

Great to see such reactions. Better those reactions than negativity.

- Sky may be on to a winner with the Hurling, skillfull, fast and it looks like you can smack the other team with a stick.

- Hurling is a f*****g ridiculous sport

- Just watched the Hurling, had no Idea what was going on most of the time but kind of enjoyed it.

- That was magnificent. Series linked on Sky. I won't get to watch it live because of the World Cup but I'm hooked. Awesome. #hurling

Its first time theyre showing it. Wont put it on their premier station straight away but if viewing figures are good and reception stays like tonight then it may in time and rugby games were not meaningless and of course Cricket is more important to Sky.
You really are a negative moan..

The cricket on sky sports today was Kent v Essex....lots of global interest in that?...fact is as far as Murdoch is concerned our games are in the same bracket as hockey and darts....a few daft comments on twitter does not change that

I think it's natural human curiosity to want to know what others think of our sports. I don't think it necessarily means we have some sort of inferiority complex. For example I think it'd be nice if Protestants in the North took more of an interest in the GAA but at the same time I'm not gonna worry about it if they don't.
