Cork vs Waterford.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I think Waterford made a real clanger the last day drawing when 9 points up ten minutes into the second half. I fancied Waterford the last day if they shackled Horgan, they did that for most of the match but when he moved out he was not followed, this resulted in Cork getting back into a game where if i am honest any other team would have had them buried. Waterford are producing some fine players and will have a say at some stage this year. if Cork defend as loosely again they will be beaten. I am not sure what system Cork are playing these days in truth so i am going to go for Waterford by 2 points.

Lets hope the Deise team get a support deserving of their teams efforts. The last day was embarrassing if truth be told.

Well at least Bill Cooper is starting and Cian McCarthy is not. Nothing against the latter but I am just wondering does somebody owe Teddy a favour or something...

Waterford suprised a lot of people the last day apart from themselves it seems . I hope a bigger support for both counties will witness this replay . Cork will be seriously up this and I think they will pull away from Waterford with there experience by 8-9 points in the end .

I don't think either McCarthy or Cronin merit a starting place at this stage but I'm no JBM. Although in fairness to Cronin I do think his best position if FF. Harnedy won an All Star at RHF last year so maybe he'll be brought out with Cronin going back inside.

A lot of people saying Cork will improve from the last day but Shane O'Sullivan & Shane Fives should help Waterford too. Both teams have options from the bench!

I could not have made a worse prediction if i tried. To score 0-28 is some going, very well played Cork.

Great to see Nash on his backside!

Fair play to the Waterford goal-keeper.. The rule says he may stay on the line. It doesn't say he has to!

Wow. If Kilkenny laid down a marker yesterday, then Cork laid down an equally impressive one today. While Waterford suffered from the same deficiencies they've been afflicted with in many of their recent games (i.e.hitting bad wides when they should be out of sight), they're still a serious outfit. For Cork to have won like that today, with that kind of intensity, composure and skill, its quite a statement. But I guess people forget that Cork were All-Ireland finalists last year, we shouldn't be that surprised.

All remaining Munster championship games are potential barnstormers. Next week is a repeat of last years epic All-Ireland final, it'll be a full house (is it on in Limerick or Thurles?).
If Cork win, the Munster final will be a repeat of last years, which would be cool. If Clare win, its a Clare/Limerick Munster final....that sells itself, it would be epic. Can't wait either way.

The whole Nash penalty event was a shambles. This needs to be addressed ASAP.

Waterford actually started quite well, but once the Cork half backs settled down, just about everything clicked. To have scored 28 points is impressive, but they'll need to up it against Clare. They still have the fault of not winning enough of their own puckouts and the forwards not putting their opposing backs under enough pressure when the backs have the ball. Waterford fell away very badly in the second half and looked as if they couldn't wait for the final whistle.
One other thing, Cork have only themselves to blame if Cahalane is unfit next Sunday. He signalled to the bench that he was in trouble with his shoulder, about 5 minutes later got a bit of a rub and I think Cork had used up all their subs by then.
Nash's penalties are going to have to be sorted out or else Davy Fitz will self implode on the sideline.

A big improvement in Cork today but in truth Waterford were very poor. First day Waterford forwards were in front of their men and causing them endless trouble. Today Cork backs strolled it. Unfortunately Cork's dominance robbed the game of any drama. Crowd today 22,000 up 6,000 from first day.

Cork played well. We have very skillful hurlers. There is no doubt about it and some of the touches by players like Patrick Horgan, Daniel Kearney, Lehane etc were sublime. I never worry about lack of skill from Cork players. Today though we were made look good. We were closing Waterford down a lot to be fair but then were given an awful lot of space- especially in the second half. I worry as well about not winning our own puck outs. We need to be tougher.
