Wasn't much of a profound Advantage when we weren't win All Irelands though was it....

What a stupid statement, they didn't have the players that's why.

Lads overall it isn't that huge an advantage playing the likes of Tyrone, Cork, Kerry, Mayo etc on the big days, most of them are well used to Croke Park but nobody I believe if that game was in O Moore park on Sunday it would have been some second half! And that is where the debate has a valid point. If Dublin were playing Kildare in Newbridge or Meath in Navan I don't think we would be half as confident predicting a blowout.

The main issue of consternation i have over this done to death topic is that it appears for some posters that the use of the term 'home' equates to a similar advantage that premier league soccer teams have when they play on their home pitch. Indeed, over numerous threads on this issue that line is often used. However, the reality is once again different as Dublin do not enjoy the same type of benefits that these teams enjoy. Dublin certainly do not own Croke Park.

As i've said before, if an advantage can be accrued from traveling distances to stadiums then Dublin enjoy it, although on an island as small as ours i'm not convinced that argument holds. If an advantage is gained from having the countries major stadium in your county then Dublin enjoy it, yet this is an irreparable accident of geography and has been so all through the associations history. And familiarity should such an advantage be gained Dublin would enjoy it even though Croke Park is hardly alien territory to most of the successful teams out there.

If anyone can name me a Leinster Championship match or AI QF the result of which hinged on Dublin being at home as opposed to away then this topic has some merit otherwise......

Watching the game Sunday I thought Dublin were poor enough at midfield and MDMA was very poor Now when a team wins an All Ireland it can take time to reach the heights of the previous year. And indeed certain players might not reach the heights they achieved the previous year I was impressed with Laois's midfield and indeed no13 who probably got man of the match. Overall I can see Dublin improving on last Sundays display and they are still the team to beat. Laois seem to be playing a more attacking game from last year , of course they changed managers. But they deserve a lot of credit and they were unfortunate for the second goal. I can see them getting a good run in the back door and best of luck to them
As regards to my earlier posts about Dublin /Kildare/Meath , well I fancy Kildare to beat Meath and even if Dublin have beaten them by something like 39 points over a few games that won't have any bearing this year if the meet. So for me Kildare v Dublin final.
Now if Donegal are to make the later stages of the championship, and I think they will, if they could recapture any bit of the old 2012 form I'd love to see them play Dublin We could get beat out of CP but them again it could go down to the wire. Now I don't know what Dublin people think but I think Donegal , with everything right could be the biggest danger to Dublin this year.
Don't think Cork/Kerry will beat Dublin this year if they meet. Don't know about Mayo either, if every thing goes as plan it would be in the AI final that Dublin/ Mayo would meet.
As regards Monaghan , as I see it now IF they retain Ulster they could easily make it awkward for Dublin and for Tyrone , it would be some effort to still be in the championship at the end of August. Bearing in mind they have a hard game this coming Sunday, a possible U semi Final against Armagh and then if they are still in Ulster a final against Antrim /Donegal with Donegal favs to get there.
So to hazard a guess :::::dangers to Dublin are Donegal 2012form) or Monaghan providing they win Ulster. Would not fancy them in the back door

I think with Croke Park nearly paid off the GAA should look at having a new Stadium some along the railway link between Portarlington and Nass or Newbridge. Maybe I've been in Australia too long, call me ideolistic or something. 40,,000 all seater stadium. Get the dubs out of Croke Park during the earlier rounds. The dubs could just hop on the train and be there in a no time.. Kildare needs a new stadium anyway. It would have to be short walking distance from a train station.
