Armagh v Cavan

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Neither team have any chance.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Cavan out first round and first time in the qualifier, to down or someone.

I wouldn't rule Armagh out of this one!
Some of the Cavan boys are getting ahead of themselves over
the head of some u21 results! Armagh by 2!

tought one to call, it looks like Cavan, but there wont be much in this game, big Gearoid mc kiernan, if fit,Mackey, will have a bearing on the game, Keating, Dunne, Givney, if given enought ball, would destroy any1 in Ulster, Cavan are also good at the back, ok some of the Boy s have gone to America, but i believe Cavan still have the boys to win, with their u21 s of the last few years comming into senior i believe its only a mater of time before they win Ulster, Armagh wont go quielty, it will come down to who wants the game most, would they put it up to Tyrone, Monaghan, Donegal, yes both Cavan, Armagh would. this is Ulster anything can happen on the day, from the start i tipped Donegal,Cavan for the final.

Mackey is carrying an injury, Clarke is gone, but there's plenty of lads there. Someone mentioned we have no attacking forwards. We have, it's just the game plan that has doesn't allow for creativity. Dunne, when on song is as deadly accurate, but he needs a perfect pass in. Keating a serious strength, but can be unpredictable and has tunnel vision at times. Fergal Flanagan is a good man to come up the field and attack. Jack Brady when played in the corner over the years at minor and U-21 was a lively accurate forward, caused no end of problems inside. Why is he not allowed to do that any more? He is a great link man, but we need scores. Conor Moynagh will surely come in to defence and Declan Mc Kiernan is a great free taker, as is Brady. Great to have big Gearoid back, will make a difference, but we neeed to get the scores early on. Kick outs will be crucial , and a quick ball in will be the difference. Armagh will be well prepared ,and I agree, all the pressure is on Cavan.

Cavan have a number of injuries and wouldn't be talking about winning Ulster, will be tough to get past Armagh. Keating has got injured since the League final, hamtring flared again, Rory Dunne is injured as is Cian Mackey. Keating will be touch and go to play agaist Armagh,
Killian Clark and Ronan Flanagan had great championships last year so they will be obvious losses too,

The closer we get to the game, the more confused I am about the result. I wouldnt be surprised if Armagh get thru it, but I cant see Cavan getting beaten either. Toughest one to call so far.

not long now to Armagh, Cavan, this will be some game, it looks Cavan, and if their young players are up for it,want it, etc, i cant see them been stopped, Armagh will have other ideas and will be hard stopped, could be a draw, going to Breffni. the following week,

Mchugh11,

Wouldn't rule out a draw myself, Armagh have a point to prove and will be really fired up for this one, their defeat in Breffni last year was so appalling for them their manager saw fit to apologise to Armagh fans.

As for us, well, we've obviously been making great progress at underage, and the seniors have improved a lot in the last 12 months too. We have a few injury concerns, Mackey and Keating touch and go, Rory Dunne a doubt too, so I'll know a lot more about our chances when the team is named.

It is time Cavan pushed on after the good u21 campaigns over the last 4 years, we have bridged the gap between us and the likes of Tyrone and Donegal significantly. Personally, I think there's very little between us and Monaghan, last years Ulster semi final (minus our best player) showed that. I also think theres very little between Monaghan and Tyrone, Donegal. So hard to call it this year.

Best of luck to the lads tomorrow. I expect Mackey to be well marshalled, but big Gearoid in his first championship game in 2 years should be well able to cause Armagh all sorts of problems.

Cavan by 2

Hearing that a full scale brawl broke out during the parade with the band having to run for cover!! Martin Dunne injured in the fight and couldn't start...

It was all Pat Spillanes fault as well. I am not sure exactly how yet, a few posters will be along shortly to explain fully, but it was definitely Spillanes fault. To be serious, the pictures of young lads from the band standing around watching players brawling is a very poor image for the game. Lets hope both counties are fully dealt with.

Looking forward to seeing the brawl. The actual game sounds like filth.

I'd say Armagh were determined not to be pushed around this year after what happened in breffini next year. Very disappointing result for Cavan who I thought were contenders for Ulster. Well beaten. The GAA should hand out numerous suspensions to whatever players were involved in the brawl as the scenes look disgraceful from the photos. Some of those young band members could got hurt.

It's a cowardly act in Armaghs part to inflict an injury on Dunne before a ball is kicked.

Saying that, Cavan didn't deserve to win.

In a side note. Marty Duffy. Oh my god!

Sounded like the same sort of Martin Johnson stunt back in 2003 in Dublin, no fighting that day but a convincing win for England and for Armagh today, it obviously got in Cavans mind

hard luck Cavan, was not to be your day, yous will be back, well done Armagh, wonder who started the brawl in front of young band people, and Martin dunne getting injured, disgraceful, also end of first half shouting in Keating s face, boys Armagh were going about winning at any cost, dont think they would get away with these tactics facing other teams,

Must have been disgraceful scenes and looking at the band members , especially the small lad and little girls holding the flags, well is win at all costs with it. Plus all who want another stab at the Ulster championship , will be delighted No place for this in our games
Did fancy Armagh since the draw was made and also fancied whoever won this game to get to the Ulster final. Can't see Armagh getting to the Final Now as there is bound to be suspensions. Sad day though.
