Monaghan vs Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Most of the neutrals going for a Tyrone win I see, and that's understandable given the form when we've met.

We're really looking forward to this one and it should be a scorcher in Clones. Monaghan have greater strength in depth than I've ever seen. Any of our starters under perform and they'll be called ashore pronto.

Monaghan win by 4.

If the Monaghan lads are fully fit, and do indeed start. I think they'll win the game. It's fairly close this one though. I would wait and see the actual teams that take the field though before I think about putting money on this one.

Confidence and desire supermon.

I call that fake humility on your behalf.

Call it what you like supermon but you only have to read this thread and the Monaghan board for me to come to that conclusion. The message is that Monaghan have the strongest panel in years, have paid too much respect to Tyrone but not any more, they won't be bullied on the field like in years gone by, time to throw off the Tyrone monkey and on it goes. If that doesn't represent confidence and desire then I don't know what does.

Tyrone should win this, McManus or not. Tyrone have beaten Monaghan enough times with him on the pitch.

Yet again, can you please explain how that makes us, in your words 'CLEAR FAVOURITES'? Your replies this far have been completely inadequate. The fact that we are not favourites with the bookmakers completely discredits your view that we should be considered favourites, let alone clear favourites.

Supermon, brend is having you on I suspect. His comment that "the world and his dog knows Monaghan are superior" is a clear giveaway. I don't know any Tyrone man who would think that, much less any who would admit it.

Yes Monaghan have confidence and desire going into this game, but that won't decide the game on it's own. There are two team here, and I'm sure Tyrone are just as confident of getting a result. I'm fairly relaxed about the game to be honest. I think we have the team to beat Tyrone regardless of Conor playing, and I'm looking forward to seeing that on Sunday.

The facts:
Monaghan do have their strongest panel in years but that still might not be good enough for an average-enough Tyrone one.

Monaghan are Ulster champions but they still have it all to prove against Tyrone. No matter who holds the Anglos Celt, Tyrone are still the benchmark for who is best in Ulster. No question.

It doesn't matter who are the nominal 'favourites'for this one- the 'you are' 'no you are' routines on here are hilarious. All logic points to Tyrone being slightly ahead, but really its not worth the argument.

McManus- injured or not he will still be off the pace compared to his usual self, and we've seen enough late additions to teams flop to know that risking the guy just for a name on the shhet will not work out. Clarke is a huge loss for Tyrone so playing the 'we have it worse than you' routine is also a bit pointless.

There are plenty of noisy Monaghan lads on here trying to convince themselves of our chances. Tyrone's relative calm speaks louder.

All told, the result of this one lies in Tyrone's hands. Monaghan will likely do a braveheart on it and hit them with everything early on. I expect Tyrone to be still standing when things settle down though, then the slow blood-letting will begin...

If Monaghan can reproduce the form that slaughtered us in the Ulster final last year then I fully expect them to win.

However all we have to do is look at Mayo whoe were a pale shadow of the side that also did a number on us to see that reproducing form year after year is not easy.

A cautious vote for Tyrone but this could go either way. I am really looking forward to it & hoping that both teams knock seven lights out of each other with Armagh waiting to do more damage!!

I personally would love to see monaghan win but I can see Tyrone shading it by a point or two! Even with the injuries on both sides I think both these teams are fairly well matched and it's about time monaghan got the Tyrone monkey off their backs.

Whatever happens it should be a great match! Really looking forward to it!

Tyrone just about to shade it. Louth will then have a crack a redemption in a home game to Monaghan.

I'd say Monaghan will win this game against Louth.

Monaghan will not beat Tyrone; they had their day
in the sun against Donegal last year, and once again
failed to beat Tyrone(that was their best ever chance).
Its that time again; time for Monaghan to come crashing
down to earth after another footballing lesson handed
out by the mighty red-hands! ;)
Simply better; Tir Eoghain abu.

Just a pity the best 2 teams in Ulster have to meet so early on.would have made a cracking final.
