Monaghan vs Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just shows how big that Monaghan chip on Donegal's shoulder is when the most posts on Monaghan v Tyrone are from Donegal.
Even when Monaghan were poor Donegal couldn't beat us and based on the last 2 lessons we handed out to them I don't expect that to change
Any time soon.I Think Donegal have won 1 of the last 10 meetings.
However we have a similar problem with Tyrone so we have a long way to go to get
another crack them.

This Monaghan team would beat Donegal even without McManus!

Have your opinion the same as ourself but don't think what happened last year or any other year will have any bearing on the next meeting between Donegal v Monaghan. Same applies between Tyrone vMonaghan The bottom line is Monaghan are the team that have most to loose by defeat to either Tyrone or Donegal. As least Donegal /Tyrone are able to win quarter finals/semi finals and win anAll Ireland or two No chip on our shoulder here at all, just that you are taking the wrong meaning out of some of the Donegal posts. As I have said before it's all right talking about beating Donegal but can Monaghan beat the teams (Tyrone Cavan/Armagh to get to an Ulster final If they can't then they are not the team a lot of you Monaghan people think you have.
At least over the last two years Donegal were able to beat the top teams in Ireland and in some style too. Would not listen to the gatekeeper, would expect his rant after the last 3 results Donegal v Tyrone
So Monaghan go beat Tyrone and don't worry about Donegal for now.

We are the team we think we are , we are Ulster chamions. Nobody from Monaghan
is mentioning winning an all-Ireland , how could we? A small County with 30 clubs.
I only think we are the best in Ulster based on the fact that we are champions and the Fact
we give u another hiding recently in a game that meant alot more to you than us.
So you're not counting Donegal as a bigger team?

SamOnErrigal, so what i'm taking from your post is that all of our matches against Tyrone won't have a bearing on the one in a few weeks, i'm pretty sure it will seeing as we owe them , just my opinion

In all fairness Sam, that's a bit rich coming from you after you're the one who keeps starting Donegal talk in threads not concerning them.

Also on this:

The bottom line is Monaghan are the team that have most to loose by defeat to either Tyrone or Donegal.

Wouldn't agree at all that Monaghan have the most to lose. Sure look at the talk from most people here and in the media, most are talking up a Tyrone-Donegal final while Monaghan are disregarded despite not having started our championship yet. I don't think it matters much but if I had to pick one I'd say Donegal have the most to lose. Many of your key players are getting on in their late 20s and 30s, and given the draw this is a golden opportunity to win another Ulster. I've seen this year being spoken by some as a last throw of the dice with Donegal and McGuinness after last season. It's started well but what if it doesn't end well? But sure look all of this is irrelevant, we can debate here til the cows come home on these things, all that matters is how the games go on the day, and Tyrone this day two weeks is all we are looking at.

Over the last 40 years since we made the breakthrough we have had a lot more success than Monaghan and I'm not saying we are a bigger team than Monaghan but we are not inferior ::: the 2012 results tellus that Also I take Offaly as an example ,win all Ireland's at both codes ,would think same population as Monaghan and I would not think they have many more clubs. So that's not an excuse for not winning an All Ireland.
Park
As regards bringing Donegal treads into this post some of your own are also doing it ::: comments like if Tyrone beat Monaghan Donegal have another Ulster title in the bag. What about Armagh/Cavan or Indeed Fermanagh/Antrim
As regards older players I'd say Monaghan have as many ,a few of them have been around a fair while.
And don't forget Tyrone have a few older players on board also.
Won't be too worried who wins to be honest but I think we are best placed to get to an Ulster final The winners of Tyrone vMonaghan could easily be beat in the semi. If we were to loose our semi we can forget about playing football. So prove yourself against Tyrone and if by chance we meet you ,if you can beat us again I'll have no problem whatsoever.

He tweeted it after that awfull Derry Donegal game just after he tweeted "horrible game , underlines Malachy O' Rourkes excellence as a manager that he has found an antidote to this travesty".lol

Donegal dont fear anyone in ulster. We would be wary of the opposition bottom line. Monaghan have an excellent record against us, but so had tyrone until very recently. Armagh likewise. This business of wishing and hoping you get a certain team and avoiding another team does not add up, as it is now all on the day. I feel that Monaghan will be well up for tyrone, and despite their poor results against them over the years, will be putting this behind them for the game. All loosing streaks come to an end as do winning ones. I think that it could well be a draw, with tyrone edging them out in the replay

Offaly have about 45 clubs so bad research by you.
Looking back at some of your posts you seem to think that Donegal
are still the Donegal of 2012. They're not ! And even if they werr
they would never win an all Ireland playing that system again
as (thanks to the Ulster champions) teams now know how to handle it..
Also your dislike of Monaghan definitely points to a huge chip , whic is understandable
since you've probably only ever seen Donegal beat Monaghan once in your lifetime
in a meaningless league encounter this season. ( I presume ur in your teens reading your posts).

Wonder what will Brolly say after Monaghan /Tyrone game Doubt if he will be kind to Tyrone no matter what the result. Today's result in Ulster shows how difficult it is to predict who wins a game. Will watch Tyrone /Monaghan game with interest but have a feeling neither side will reach the Final. If it's true that Clarke is injured , he will be a massive loss to Tyrone , still think they are good enough to get to an Ulster final.
So Antrim v Donegal in the first Ulster semi final.
Prediction:::
Back to the old days::::: 03/05 Armagh v Tyrone second semi final.

Awful news about Conor Clarke, it's never nice to hear about a player getting an bad injury. Hopefully it's not as serious as they think.

Since the majority of people posting on this thread are from Donegal;
it would be fair to say that Tyrone and Monaghan are occupying the
minds of the hill-folk more than the other way around! ;)

The majority of the posts are from Donegal heads
