Niall before the foot in mouth situation continues. My reference to contenders WAS MONAGHAN.

Don't bet on it! Literally!

i think we have a defense that would be as good as any other teams defense in the country.I know we dont score enough goals but we dont concede too many either.

again hard to call this game, Monaghan win and they most likely will face Cavan, no disrespect to Armagh, Tyrone, Cavan, are teams Monaghan would rather not meet. Tyrone seem to freeze Monaghan, Monaghan just dont have the belief to beat Tyrone, and also if Cavan run at Monaghan, be in their face, etc, Monaghan lose the run of themselves, even Armagh would put it up to Monaghan, if Cavan or Armagh hammer each other, well this also will have a bearing when Monaghan face Tyrone, they are all neighbours, and no love will be lost, given.Monaghan are a very good team, will be hard beat, i believe Monaghan will only just get over Tyrone, but will fall to Cavan in a tough game on a hot summers day in clones.

Lads lads lads, no need for everyone to get in their high horse here. We all know anyone could beat anyone in Ulster. I do feel in this instance that in the past when we met Tyrone we probably bottled it, but I give us a better chance this time. I'm not saying we will definitely win, but I just feel we have a better chance.

As long as cormac reilly isn't refereeing the game unlike our last 2 championship games, I would give us the favourites tag. I honestly didn't see anything from Tyrone's last 2 outings that made me feel anymore worried. In fact I feel less worried. It's not bravado or anything like that, it's just my honest opinion. Our backs are much better than downs and so are our forwards, and I'm not even talking about McManus here, as it's likely he won't have a huge bearing on the game.

All that said, Tyrone could well put in a performance capable of beating us. But the difference this time is that I feel it's Tyrone that will have to pull the rabbit out of the hat to beat us rather than what tradition i.e. expecting Monaghan to pull a rabbit out if the hat to beat Tyrone.

All that freezing because it's Tyrone stuff is of a bygone era.

On paper last August we were a better team than Tyrone and Tyrone pulled a rabbit out of a hat. That rabbit came in the form of poor poor poor refereeing decisions and a ridiculous rugby tackle.

So maybe Tyrone will get the luck of the green and beat us, and best of luck to them of they do. But if they don't they won't.

I dont think so, even when tyrone had 14 v 15 they looked like they were going to hold on. Monaghan were a bit unlucky that day ie the rugby tackle, but the ref got most calls spot on.

Midlu I
Before I'd class Monaghan as serious All Ireland challengers I'd wait to see how they get on in Ulster first. Also they have not had many games, if any against the like of Dublin, Cork ,Mayo or Kerry. I'm talking about the last three years and it would take some achievement ti come from Div 3 to All Ireland champions in 2 years. I'd like to see how they get on in the quarter final if they get there and if possible meet a team from outside Ulster. I missed the first half of last years quarter final but I saw the second half 2What I did think was in the second half Monaghan were on the attack a few times and seemed to take the wrong options , could have got a few more scores with better use of the ball
Anyway they have tough games to play in ulster and if they beat Tyrone , another hard game awaits them and win that they are only in the Ulster final. If everything only was as simple as the Munster football championship. One big game and you know where you stand.

This is just another game for Tyrone, it's obvious by the lack of Tyrone people posting on the thread. This is monaghans all Ireland final if you win there will be mass celebration across the county and if and when we win we are simply into an ulster semi final having beaten a team we beat last year, a team we beat in 2010,2007, 2005 and so on.

this game will be very hard to call, all the pressure on Monaghan,as there is nothing better they would like than getting this game out of the way with a win, if Monaghan play as they can, have belief in themselves then Tyrone will be beat, but Tyrone are used to these type of games, big day, pressure etc, ok this is a new Tyrone to a certain extent, but carrying on with the same game plan, plus big Sean, his brother Colm, Marty penrose, the Mcmahons, conor Gormley, Stephen o neill, all blending in to the team at different stages of a game, Tyrone will not be beat easily,Monaghan lose this game, and by a big score, then a lot of the older players will bow out, Monaghan have to step up,and they have the player s to do it, i would not be surprised if this big game did not end in another draw,

Monaghan were the best team in Ulster last year , the silverware counts ::::Anglo Celt For that matter they were also the best Minor team.
Donegal were the two years previous and Tyrone the two years before.
Now when Tyrone win the A I in 2003 the following year Donegal beat them but Donegal were unable to push on. So if Monaghan should beat Tyrone , no excuses Monaghan boys ::: push on. There is not much point in beating a good team and then loosing to an INFERIOR team. Donegal done it time and time over thr years. So a big year for Monaghan and this upcoming game will have a big bearing on where they go and where they are at. :::::

If Monaghan beat Tyrone Donegal might have another Ulster title in the bag. But don't forget your neighbours either side of you , could they not have a small say in where Anglo Celt ends up.
