Very little between the two teams yesterday, I actually thought Tyrone slightly edged it as the number of scores would back up.
I was a bit surprised when the referee blew it up with Tyrone in possession and moving forward for an equaliser, but both sides are exceptionally strong and regardless of who came through this game, they would always be a worthy semi finalist.
In a way Division 2 is showing how strong it was, with Monaghan and Donegal knocking out the two Ulster Division 1 teams Tyrone and Derry. Also not forgetting that Tyrone needed a replay to put Down away.
Armagh are not to be sneezed at, and will have their tails up after a good win over Cavan. Monaghan need to be careful now, as if they look too far ahead, they could well find themselves in dumped out by a Armagh side who I feel are better than their new found Division 3 status suggests.

Tyrone are not finished,God no,they will bounce back, no team will want to play them,Monaghan are on the up, but need to watch Armagh, who will not be easy to beat, we, Donegal, will not have it easy against Antrim, Derry, Cavan,Down, Fermanagh are not gone either, i think Ulster teams will do well in Qualifer s, no disrespect, it look s Donegal v Monaghan, with the loser s facing an Ulster team, i suppose if it s us we face Tyrone, Monaghan likely their old friend s and the Elvis of Ulster football, Cavan, best of luck to all Ulster team s, Monaghan want to play a game..................................

Delighted for Monaghan. Cavanagh pulling players into the tackle was the final straw. Great player but hate the cynical tactics. Monaghan also need to mind their discipline especially if they get beyond Ulster.

Micky Hart let his mask slip at the end of game.Never saw him react like this.I think it bore all the hallmarks of a man knowing the end is edging ever closer.

I think that Tyrone under estimated Monaghan yesterday. Tyrone were well below their best form yesterday also. If you look at Monaghan Conor Mc Manus was not totally fit but yet he was played for 70minutes. Was yesterday Monaghans Ulster final ? I hope not but I do have my doubts. Also is that the end of Tyrone for this year ? Are they done ? I dont think so either. If you add all this an the fact that the ref made some v funny decisions yesterday I would say that the actual facts are somewhere in the middle and we will have to wait another day out in the sun to find out. Tyrone are not as bad as they looked yesterday. Monaghan had a great lucky day where everything the practiced fell into place. well done Monaghan.

Interesting analysis, but i think that tyrone did not under estimate monaghan. I would say that monaghan were just more up for it than tyrone. monaghan did not have a lucky day yesterday, they executed a very well drilled game plan. I also think that monaghan did not peak emotionally for this game, they are too experienced to allow this to happen. Finally, the ref had a very solid game, bar the controversy at the end, which in fact was nothing that I would be complaining about it was just one of those things.
Where I would agree is that tyrone are not a beaten docket, although many will be wishing this were the case. I feel that tyrone could muster a good run together in the back door. We will see.

I don't know Border, I honestly think that Tyrone clawed there way back and we really shouldn't have allowed them to do it. I do think they are that bad, and were lucky to get over Down. I just felt that the hoodoo they had over us almost cost us again. Their psychological hold almost caused us to collapse. The fact that we tried to close out the game from 55 mins by sitting back was the problem. I havent seen anything from Tyrone this year that would convince me that they will even make the quarters. If they meet a decent side in the qualifiers they will be found out.
Agree with you about refereeing decisions, it seemed like a lucky pick on what card he was going to show!

Not trying to start a row or anything but I think the Clones factor helped Monaghan a bit as well.
They have a great record there & no more than Dublin in Croke Park it is bound to be worth a point or two.

Luck border Gael, it was luck that prevented us from conceding three first half goals.

I don't think using the clones factor as a reason is fair. Had down bet Tyrone the match would have been in newry so it was the luck of the draw for monaghan really. Tyrone are well used to playing in clones and have a great record there too.
I don't think it's as big a factor as croker is to the dubs.

In my view Tyrone won't be a force in Ulster again for a few years as after this year I would think a few older players will retire. Now to be a top team again they want a few (2/3) decent backs They would also seem to need a new midfield but they have a few young forwards who should improve. I thought over the last three years they seemed to get so far yet never looked like a team who were going to win Sam. Now I thought when MHart took a new 3 year deal back two years ago as manager again that he would have a team ready around 2014/2015 to challenge and possible be to win Sam. From their games in Ulster over the last month I think that Derry are at least on a par with Tyrone, Monaghan/Donegal are way in front , with both Armagh and Down not far behind. Now I'm not been disrespectful to Tyrone football but that is how I see it and I don't think M Hart wil win much more with Tyrone. Now I'm a person who came over specially to see Tyrone play in the AI in 2005 from London All the talk here was Kerry would beat them and they had another team on the bench and all this but I told people here that Tyrone would win and I also had them backed at 7/4. Paid 120 euros to get a ticket that Day and it was the last day I stood inside CP after the game I almost got as much pleasure that day as I did in 1992 when Donegal won. To me Ulster is getting very very competitive and over the next few years I can see the Anglo Celt changing hands quite often In my book either Down or Derry must be due an Ulster title very soon.

Agreed, it was very much like the look of Ferguson after the Real Madrid defeat in the Champions League that ruined his last chance at glory.

People just love to talk about Tyrone, its amazing. RTE analysis of the game was all about Tyrone, how we have fallen from grace, a pale shadow, diving, disorganised and on and on and on. You would swear Tyrone were not playing against a team which simply put, were the better side. Why cant we leave it at that?
Im my view having watched Tyrone all year, we had a bad day out against Monaghan who in the end only beat us by one point. Not a bad result for a terrible performance. Now Can Tyrone play better? - Yes alot better! Can Monaghan play any better ? - very questionable.

No and Yes....I think Tyrone were very lucky to be only a point behind at the finish..Monaghan stopped attacking after the goal..When you think of the missed penalty, numerous goal scoring chances and wides...There is a lot more to come from this Monaghan team I reckon..once all our injuries are cleared up we'll be a lot more potent up front. I think Tyrone have a lot more internal problems that they would like us to know..a bit of a power struggle has been brewing since earlier in the League...I've never seen Mickey Harte so agitated in a match before. I watched him from the start of the second half and he was like a cat on a hot tin roof! Not the old, cool calm and collected Mickey Harte of old...
You never know we might end up playing each other again before the summer is out..wheather it's an All Ireland QF or a 2nd or 3rd round Qualifier! lol

Brend whilst I do mostly agree with you I personally think its more to do with Michael Harte and his personna.
Heres a man who has created a certain saintly personna which at times seems at variance with how his teams occasionally play and conduct themselves, that for some people is intriguing others its nauseating. An example was on Sunday the "ball boy" dressed in black waving his arms behind the goal when the Monaghan penalty was taken - distasteful to be honest and some say planned in advance
It is very unfortunate at times for Tyrone football, who can be unfairly judged compared to other teams doing similiar things. In the north no other county I know have any time for this duplicity and thats a pity as Tyrone had/have some fantastic footballers and at times have played some amazing football.

Sadly I believe that the strain is finally taking its toll on Mickey, football and the support of the wider GAA community, reference to terrific welcome he got from the Dubs at Croke park, have helped him through some very dark times but it is inevitable that this would finally catch up with him.
