Marty "breaking ball" Morrissey is doing his best to make a game of it..even his commentating cant justify the standard and amount of handpasses present!..second half cant be any worse

Surely there must be some mistake, we are constantly told that this type of football can only occur in Ulster. Damn you RTE!

That was a hard watch.. it became an "exciting" game but a horrible spectacle

If Mayo are considered to be all ireland contenders then so are a lot of other teams. That was atrocious. Marty morrisey is doing his best to talk it up but it was rubbish.

Sh1te first half but the second half was enjoyable, Roscommon blew it and should have scored from their last attack aswell.

Mayo got out of jail there I think- really it took the old warhorses Moran and Dillon to dig them out of trouble. Who said the Connacht championship was uncompetitive?

Serious problems for Mayo to address ahead of the final. We really struggle to break down opponents who defend in numbers and break at us, and so it proved today.

Hard Luck Roscommon, ye have come a long way since last year, ye gave away silly frees in the end that cost ye a game ye should have won, as well yer man at the end he should have tapped the ball over. Ye will do well this year and have Div 2 football next year to look forward to

That's right Gleebo, I was told that there is no point in playing the Connacht championship at all because Mayo are so much better than everyone else so was very surprised to see them being put to the pin of their collar. The conditions in that game were atrocious with players struggling to hold the ball and their footing, but as the game went on things improved. The conditions suited Mayo better because they are the best tacklers of the ball in football, and the wet ball ensured they were able to turn over possession more often. Interesting to see if Galway or Sligo can give them a similar challenge, hopefully on a drier day.

Lads Mayo were very poor today but still won, they are still contenders but have an awful lot of work to do, people getting a little bit carried away, the best team still won despite playing at pedestrian pace, lots of work to do.

Thought Mayo were much the superior team.
Mayo weren't lucky. Roscommon were nowhere near good enough.
Andy Moran is a class act.

Bad game. We were lucky to come away with it but were the better side overall. That might serve as a wakeup call for some of our lads. As regards the lack of quality, two things played a big part. 1 was the heavy showers, you could see the amount of balls that were dropped and spilled etc from the slippery coditions. 2 was the grass left long which slowed down the game noticeably, probably done on purpose in all honesty, but I suppose that is all part of it. Best of luck to roscommon in their next game. I hope they can build from here, and not fall away.

Poor game but in fairness to mayo they only did enough to get over the line, the rossies will be a tricky team for any1 in the qualifiers. Fair play to Johnny Evans he'l make job of them.

Absolutely blessed to win that. The Hyde is no place to put out an experimental half forward line. That should have been done in fbd,National League and the jolly to New York. Turbo Tom, Boyle and Cillian's frees dragged us through. Also, Andy Moran take a bow. Brilliant cameo, without which Mayo were sunk. Thought he was on a downward spiral but fair play, he proved many people wrong including myself. Ballagh remains a little outpost of Mayo for another year at least!
