we will 100% beat mayo on the 8th will take a good team to beat us this year .

You want two things from this thread young fella 1) For people to agree with you and say Roscommon will win and that will make you feel all warm and fussy inside or 2) People to disagree with you and have a good aul shouting match.

For the record Roscommon will provide a stern test and be very close to Mayo but I would except us to come through by 4-5 points in the end. That said a defeat in the Hyde is not beyond happening. Knowing Horan and Mayo though they won't be taking any thing lightly. Roscommon are due a win against us in Championship but it won't happen this year (hopefully).

Love to see Roscommon with their fancy Rossie Bus :o) win, but I think Mayo will have way too much for them.

Roscommon are Work In Progress, but Mayo are fairly well seasoned campaigners at this stage.

Mayo to win.

If Mayo are in the mood it will be a ludering of biblical proportions.

Not too sure that Mayo are in the mood anymore though.......

Well at least Roscommon wont be playing Mayo in McHale Park this year

Roscommon could upset Mayo at stages but not enough to see them win

It'll be closer than last year but still see a comfortable win for the reigning champions

I agree YT. In fairness this game is a good bit away yet and there are plenty of other games to be played before it. Bit early yet

I watched Roscommon in the div 3 league final. The first 15 minutes they were awful. Cavan were pulling away easily from them, but the rest is history. If they start like that against Mayo it'll be over by half time. However, this Mayo team has regressed considerably since last year based on the league. No spirit, no fight against Derry in the semi-final, even with an extra man for most of the game. The game will be considerably closer than last year. I actually believe Roscommon have better forwards than Mayo, but Mayo have an advantage in midfield. Will Roscommon give any of the u21's a start does anyone reckon?

Roscommon will dominate Connacht and topple Mayo very soon, whether it is this year, I doubt it, still too much of a gap there, but their time is fast approaching, and Mayo are on the wane. Mayo by 3 for me.

Roscommon have plenty of quality players in all areas of the team now and are very capable of putting it up to Mayo if Mayo are in anyway complacent, If Mayo are at their best they will be too strong for the Rossies

Much as I'd like to say Ros have a chance I don't believe they have a hope of staying with Mayo.

Mayo Sligo Connacht Final for me.

Mayo are 3/4 levels abve the rest in Connaught.
This will be another procession for Mayo going through the motions until they reach Croker in August

Roscommons second half performance was worrying against Leitrim.I lost a bit of faith in them after fading away miserably to average opposition.Mayo should win comfortably.

The Rossies will put it up to Mayo but Mayo should have enough for them over 70 minutes.

We'll win by 5 or 6 points. Roscommon do have decent forwards but we have very good backs. If they show the fight their u21s brought in the second half of the All Ireland they'll be a serious threat.

We'll have a much rearranged team than what was played in the league. According to McStay in the Herald championship supplement last Wednesday or Thursday ( can't find his article online, read it at work, free, I'd never buy it !) Keith goes back to corner back, no news there. But Vaughan will be wingback and Boyle centre back. He also says Diarmuid O'Connor will keep his starting spot and that big Aido will be centre forward. Having O'Shea at 11 is not a progressive step for me. Surely Cillian is a more creative player in that position.

I wouldn't read a thing into our league displays. Last year we got beaten out the gate in the league semi finals by Dublin with a complete lack of heart and effort, one of the worst performances I've seen by any Mayo team. I was disgusted at the lack of effort that day and if you told me on the final whistle that day that we'd play in the All Ireland that September I'd call the men in the white coats for you. We came roaring out of the blocks fit and focused in the championship and I've enough faith in Horan to believe we'll do the same this year.

Roscommon are a potential hazard for Mayo. But given their League and U21 success they're a hazard that come equipped with klaxons, bells and flashing lights. Mayo should be too well aware of the danger to be complacent.

lowballplease: i dont see a mayo v sligo final if you dont mind me saying because sligo had a very mixed league in division 3 and were lucky to find themselves staying in division 3 while longford and offaly went down to divsion 4. But i see London really putting it up against galway and hope london win against galway they have improved a lot since last year and could surprise galway and sligo. But if galway won against london and when face sligo i see galway winning easily by 8 points. mayo v galway final and the hyde are real contenders to get the connacht final this year.

But Mayo v Roscommon . I see Roscommon putting up a great fight mayo there is been dramatic change in roscommon and more positive in the camp and excitement. The last time these 2 mets at home in the hyde was the connacht final 2011 and mayo won 2 points. But roscommon u21's are still hurting and understand that but they will be ready for the challenge. John evans has done great for roscommon and is the right person to lead roscommon to more games. like if ros were leading at half time which i doubt very much even tough im a rossies fan but see it happening but if they were roscommon will have to start with same positive mood like they did in the first half not take the foot of the pedal if they were leading and going into the 2nd half not let mayo come over and topple them in de 2nd half. But people don't realize especially Mayo and other county's, Mayo would have been only going for 3 in a row this year if they lost in 2011 against roscommon in the hyde in them terrible conditions . They would not be going for 4 in a row like this year. But roscommon hopefully put upto them but see mayo winning by 5 points . mayo v galway final i say

I don't know where you got that idea Niamh but if it is a Mayo v Galway Final it will be in Castlebar as Mayo and Galway have a home/away agreement for every second time they play each other. Would get a much bigger crowd in MacHale Park too.
