The match on Saturday fell in between Argentina v Iran and Germany v Ghana in the World Cup. It was always going to struggle for viewers. benjyyy (Donegal) - Posts: 1428 - 24/06/2014 16:51:07 1608388 Link 0 |
hill16no1man, you seem to forget that these are, to the neutral observer, dead ringer games of little consequence. I have a feeling you might have a fair bit of humble pie coming your way come September though... TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 24/06/2014 17:19:48 1608410 Link 0 |

I'm a Sky customer (but didn't have Movies or Sports) & I signed up to the Sports package for the next 2 months. A lot of people would've dropped their Sports package for this period especially with the World Cup on terrestrial television but many Irish customers probably were convinced to hold onto it with the GAA/Sky deal coming on board. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 25/06/2014 11:33:48 1608766 Link 0 |

Seems not that many of us are bothered with subscribing to Sky Sports. Good decision by the viewers in my opinion. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 01/07/2014 08:41:56 1611924 Link 0 |
its funny, nowhere in the article was there a mention of the world cup. i believe the Brazil v Chile match was on at the same time as Armagh v Monaghan. surely that was worth a mention. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 01/07/2014 09:03:06 1611933 Link 0 |
How many watched the replay of the Kilkenny and Galway game, there must be something wrong with my TV I couldn't get to see it on any channel. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3168 - 01/07/2014 09:52:41 1611971 Link 0 |

The figures certainly aren't great but I'd say most people probably were watching the WC, I know I was. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 01/07/2014 10:25:55 1611990 Link 0 |

A draw was not part of the "sky deal" so RTE were not allowed show it live. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3168 - 01/07/2014 11:38:59 1612052 Link 0 |
RTE could have shown the Kilkenny/Galway replay, just not at the same time Sky were showing the football. The deal prohibits the two channels going up against each other. RTE were happy to show the game at 2:30 (they couldn't fit it into the schedule elsewhere due to their World Cup and Horse Racing coverage) but the competing counties preferred a 7:00pm throw in, so the game wasn't televised. RTE were happy to show the game but the counties involved wouldn't agree to an afternoon start. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 01/07/2014 13:13:42 1612104 Link 0 |
