You completely miss the point ath cliath...you see some of us don't care what our neighbours across the see think...did I say any anti Brit comments...what I said is that we are obsessed with what they think of us...who cares?...no need to roll over and have our bellys tickled and that is exactly what's going on here...we seek their approval about our games...what I think about our games is what matters to me mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 07/06/2014 21:19:50 1599621 Link 0 |
JC you said you didn't watch it. Yet you feel that by second hand info on a forum you can come to that clear analysis? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 07/06/2014 21:20:55 1599624 Link 0 |
Im certainly not deluded Mayotyroneman. I don't have Sky, I couldn't care less what station its on, but another outlet for Gaa is fine by me , What I don't need is someone going on a condesending antibrit rant and using Sport as their vehicle. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 07/06/2014 21:22:05 1599626 Link 0 |
not anti brit or anti sky. Its impossible to be anti sky these days seeing as how they own so much of the rights to sports,I do however feel that people are in too much of a rush to heap praise on sky. I love Gilette soccer Saturday and all that but describing rte as second rate is unfair. I find the Sunday game to be a very entertaining programme. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 07/06/2014 21:26:28 1599635 Link 0 |
Delighted for Sky and their supporters. Poor game to start with though. AwbegRover (Cork) - Posts: 136 - 07/06/2014 21:32:29 1599640 Link 0 |
I also think its unfair that any criticism of Sky is dismissed as anti Britishness. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 07/06/2014 21:32:58 1599643 Link 0 |
Ah JC did you not read the comments since this deal came to pass? Hardly embracing of our Neighbour. I couldn't care less about what they think. Just had chat with brother in London a bigger fan of the hurling than I . 15 around his place to watch game , 6 Irish first generation 4 second generation and 5 British. The English guys were in awe of the game and want to watch it again. You see I can't see a negative in that for anyone, can you? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 07/06/2014 21:47:09 1599653 Link 0 |

I didn't say anything against Britain and you accused me of being anti Britsh royaldunne. Its on your post on this very page. Unfair accusation for you to make. The analysis on RTE may not be intellectually charged, but it is very entertaining, and always has been ( and this is entertainment lets not forget. If I want statistics and percentage rates ill start studying mathematics. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 07/06/2014 22:01:57 1599667 Link 0 |

Firstly JC I didn't accuse you of been anti British. I said and I'll repeat your post read as anti SKY/BRIT rhetoric. That has been prevalent throughout the discussion on not only this thread but all the sky related threads. You clearly stated that you hadn't seen the game, yet you felt informed enough to state that rte do it better. How can anyone compare when they have only seen one side? To me and anyone who read that it is clear that no matter what sky did or will do , you had_ your mind made up. That is double standards my friend. You did not answer anyone on the evidence given, that the game had encouraged many new viewers to watch it, is this a good thing. You totally ignored that part, and said rte is better without having watched what you are comparingit too.. If I misinterpreted your comments I apologize, however when someone states something as fact without having anything to compare it to,:it does come across as anti rant rather than been based upon fact. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 08/06/2014 09:16:57 1599679 Link 0 |
SKY did an excellent job last night in what was a very one sided match, reaction in the UK has been hugey positive, can you imagine when they get more exciting matchs....another point...RTE with all their moaning dont have Cork V waterford replay oin TV...should the GAA have given SKY all replays as well considering RTE dont show them.....bottom line SKY coverage vastly superior to RTE's" going through the motions" coverage... hurler32 (Limerick) - Posts: 870 - 08/06/2014 10:15:13 1599695 Link 0 |

intersting to see how rte react Stmunnsriver (Wexford) - Posts: 2967 - 08/06/2014 11:18:00 1599712 Link 0 |
Sky seem to focus on tactical analysis of the game and highlight positives without the personal criticism that has crept into the RTE coverage. Amateur players bring thousands to our matches, boost TV ratings and dont deserve to be insulted/offended in any way.. My fear is that more players and managers will talk exclusively to Sky if RTE persists with the personal stuff ... #respectheplayers Curlew66 (Roscommon) - Posts: 604 - 08/06/2014 12:12:54 1599741 Link 0 |
