IFC Relegation - Oldcastle v Ballivor?

(Oldest Posts First)

Surely Ballivor to go down to junior this year, can't believe that Oldcastle find themselves one game away from junior and Drumconrath & Castletown could be in similar situation also. Three teams who in the last 2 years were IFC semi finalists & finalists. Drums are short a lot of players and to be honest i think they were lucky in '06 to get to the final. What's gone wrong in Castletown & Oldcastle?

Oldcastle missed their chance in '06 when the lost to Drumconrath in the semi. They were hot favourites to win it outright before that game.

Weather Drumconrath were lucky or not in 2006 is irrevelent. They made the final a massive achievement for a half a parish. They beat Carnaross, Kells, Dunderry, St Colmcilles and Oldcastle on their way and no one can take that from them

castletown from the start of the year were goin no where our board replaced the out going sean barry and sean kelly with the guy from Louth the players voted him and one of his selectors out after 2 games . by the time there was a new manager got we only had time for two training sessions to prepare for the championship! thats jus a quick version of why castletown are in the poistion they are today!(many more reason)

But if I remember correctly, last year we thought that Ratoath would easily overcome Ballivor in the relegation play-off, but Ballivor turned them oer, so who knows, when the back is to the wall Ballivor can drag out a performance, plus they have the experience of pulling through a relegation play-off before so I wouldn't count them out too quick, but I still think Oldcastle will win this!!

Ballivor also beat Oldcastle last year in the group stages of the championship so it's not beyond them. Oldcastle are operating out of Division 3 so i wouldn't go on league form. Personally i think it will be a Drumconrath v Oldcastle relegation final after hearing a few whispers last night regarding team events in Drums. These two were at the top of the IFC tree two years ago and back then Oldcastle looked like they were on the verge of making a return to senior, just shows how weak North Meath football is when you have Oldcastle, Drumconrath, Castletown, Kilmainhamwood, Rathkenny all involved in relegation games from their grades.
