A very good win for Meath, but think its too little, too late for promotion. Its still an encouraging campaign for them though. Down still in it, but dependent on results elsewhere now

Meath done us a huge favour last night, now i hope we do not mess up today so that we can secure promotion and a spot in the final!

Meath's win over Down has left promotion in the Donegal and Monaghan's hands. Probably on the balance of it, the two best teams in the division although Meath are finishing well and Armagh and Down have shown good form at various stages.

From a Meath point of view, that was another good win last night. It's a real shame they didn't edge out Donegal that day in Ballybofey. Whatever about the games with Monaghan and Armagh, had Meath edged Donegal, they'd be top of the division this morning.

I don't understand this talk of Meath doing us a "huge favour". Sure, Down losing can only be good for us but you'd swear we were very dependent on other results with that sorta talk. Imo with our points difference and games remaining we were best placed to go up anyway. This just means now if we slip up slightly, like draw today for example, it wouldn't be our promotion hopes gone. Obviously alot could happen yet but I hope and expect us to win our last two to finish off the league with a flourish.

It was a short statment and all it meant was that Meath winning last night leaves Monaghan in a better place today. No big deal really! I like to see Meath doing weel as well as my own county!

This is 100% correct. There are no favors being done in this league. it seems to be all self determination. Home form is a key issue in promotion, and it seems that Meath will rue the defeat against Armagh in terms of this. Monaghan and ourselves are surly going to meet in the final of division 2 now. Monaghan also correctly played the percentages and sent half a team to letterkenny to play us, believing that their last remaining home league games would be more than enough to secure promotion. we are in a good place too, and have some improving to do on last days showing as well which is probably a good thing on the balance of things. It was an interesting division this year, but theres going to be no shocks at the end of it now.

Great lift for Galway football as Armagh are a respected county who can put it up to anyone

That left behind point in ballybofey and the armagh mess up has cost us promotion. But that all been said have to be happy with how we progressing. All focus now turns to carlow and the real games that count.

Great win for Galway and they've now given themselves an excellent chance of staying up. Its all set up nicely for next weekend now. There's something to play for for every team bar Louth

Yes Foreverdunne, even the dropped point in Ballybofey is looking costly. Had Meath won that day, they'd be level on points with Donegal this evening but ahead of them on head-to-head meaning a win next week would've guaranteed promotion. But that's the margins and the breaks.

agreed suckvalley. we are coming into a bit of form getting 5 points from our last 6. the u21 winning midfield duo of 2011 and 2013 coming together nicely as seniors with fintan o'curraoin fantastic today in the old art of high fielding. still we lack a clinical forward so hopefully our great white hope shane walsh can clear up his injuries and be the go to man later in the season.

In fairness Meath don't deserve promotion, you cant play half the league not defending in this day and age (conceded 4-50 in first three games, two of which were at home) and expect promotion. I wouldn't like to meet them in the summer though

Considering the advantage of the extra man, and only scoring a handful of points in the second half, we were lucky to get the win today; but given how the league started for us it's a huge improvement!

Hard luck to the Armagh lads.

Donegal stay top of the table on score difference, with themselves and Monaghan on 9 pts each.

Meath and Down are both on 7 points now, and need one or both of the top two to lose next weekend.

Laois v Down

Louth v Meath

Monaghan v Galway

Armagh v Donegal

I expect Monaghan and Donegal to go up, and contest the April 27th Div 2 final in Croke Park. Donegal today found their scoring boots, but conceding 3 goals will maybe be a concern.

The division 2 final is a formality now unless down or meath can score and win by 30 odd points. Monaghan and Donegal are promoted, and will be facing each other in the final. Where is it on?

You are right former poster. A little rush of blood to the head cost us but as you said those are the breaks. Promotion is decided. No way will meath win by 30 points and it would have to be donegal that get beat as monaghan are now assured via the head to head.
But we are set up for a all out attack at leinster.

Just in the door from clones. Creditable display but poor decision makin cost us again. Monaghan very efficient in front of goal. We must beat down in portlaoise now and hope the farney do us a favour v Galway. A draw will actually do us if Galway lose as we lead them on head to head and score difference. But we behind Armagh on head to head. All to play for

A draw will keep us up.... and secure Donegal promotion.

The conspiracy theorists will be out in force if it ends in a draw.
