FL Division 2

Ye one win should be enough but I expect it to be tight, tonight was a massive help though, playing an Ulster team is never easy for us so we'll have a tough day against Down and our away trip to Louth will be heart stopping, always is when we play Louth.

Looks like Louth & Laois to go down!

Just after getting back from Laois. great weekend. Delighted we got two vital points but I was absolutely bulling at the ref again. Glad we won so it doesn't look like sour grapes but refereeing decisions have really cost us a chance of promotion this year. This standard is shocking in division 2 and i'm sick to the teeth of collins getting meath games. He's going to give myself a heart attack at one of these days god forbid.

Plenty of things can happen in this division yet, Down beating Donegal has thrown the division wide open. Great win for Meath last night coming from 5 down at half time away from home, axing what a week can do!!!

Meath v Down is now a massive game for us. Don't want to be going to Drogheda needing a win t ostaying in divsion 2.

Take a look at the league table

http://www.gaa.ie/fixtures-and-results/national-fixtures/allianz-football-league/roinn-2/

Donegal 7
Down 7
Monaghan 7
Armagh 5
Meath 5
Laois 4
Galway 4
Louth 1

That is the likely outcome from today but Paddy keenan has just scored a late goal for Louth to leave them 1 behind. Hopefully they draw or win to keep galway from getting 4 points. Very exciting division this year!

Keenan 2 late goals!!! What a man he is. Great result for meath Armagh and Laois with Louth only on 2 points and Galway on 3.

Correction, 1 late goal for keenan not 2.

If three teams finish level on points is it results between all 3 that count or is it points difference. Looking very likely that Monaghan, Donegal and Down may all finish level. Although nothing can be taken for granted in this league.

If Monaghan and Donegal go up and Kildare and Westmeath get relegated from dv1,then in my opinion the best 8 counties will DEFO be in dv1..

It's a good question about teams who finish level on points. Is it decided by scoring difference or head to head results ?

Head to head if two teams level. But scoring difference if three or more because they could all have beaten each other

We played badly and won. Always good thing to do. But if werepeat first half pperformance v Down of last night they will be out of sight. Also we need a ff who isn't afraid to take a shot, we can't keep hoping that stephen will get it right eventually.

I have now seen all the teams in Division 2 with the exception of Galway ( i saw armagh v Monaghan and Down v Donegal this weekend)

Today's game was a big win for Down, they defended well, used limited possession well and should have had a penalty, but i was dissapointed in Donegal today, the laboured hard up front, but with 66 mins gone they had only 8points on the board.
At first glance Monaghan were impressive, but they were 9pts up, Armagh changed their kickouts and took the game to them and actually brought it to 0-9 to 0-19. But with 14 men, and Armagh's growing injury list, Monaghan deservidly prevailed.
Louth - 8pts up against Armagh, shouldn't have lost.
Laois - exceptionally disappointing
Meath - Armagh won this easily in the last 15 mins, but it was Armagh's fitness, Meath looked very good in the first half and should have had a couple of goals if they had more composure up front,

So, probably the best team I've seen is Monaghan, but Meath def. have the potential.

By the way Armagh played last night without Aaron Kearon, Kevin Dyes, Charlie Veron, Finnan Morriagty, James Morgan, James Lavery, S. Forker, Toner, Ciaran McKeever, Brendan Donaghy , McCooey(might have left someone out) and the forced absentees of Declan McKenna, Gavin McParland, Peter Carragher , Niall Rowland..... so whatever happens our squad must be getting stronger if they all come back!!!!!

Very disappointed with our performance today. The tactics didn't work at all today. When our forwards won the ball they were very isolated and Down defended very well turning the ball over time and again. Leo Mc Loone had a disastrous first half with Mark Poland having a field day and pulling Mc Loone out of position leaving a big hole right through our centre. Down should have scored 3 goals in the first half.

We could have lost promotion today. Even beating Louth next tome out won't be enough so we'll need to get something in Armagh on the final day and that won't be easy.

The big picture looks worse though and we certainly seem to be way behind Derry at tjis stage.

Armagh were undisciplined at times and Monaghan rightly punished us for that. But considering everything I think there are more positives than negatives regarding these league games. Ulster looking strong enough this year.
