Fair enough, apology accepted, you sort of caught me off guard with that apology I must admit, there aren't too many people big enough to apologize so fairplay. Although I have to say that I wasn't overly offended, I just felt like defending the county to be honest and I know full well that there's far more than yourself who gets a kick out of other teams losing, in truth most of us do in some way shape or form. You're only real crime was maybe choice of words but sure look as you say nobody died and I still got a solid night's sleep last night.
Also I know without even going back and reading the early pages of this thread that a few Meath fans were making over the top predictions, I done it myself. The thing is we had one of our best January's in a long time, we rarely perform well this time of year and it was especially refreshing to see us in form as early as January but obviously that wasn't a true indicator of where we were, staying up in now or only real aim and that won't be easy either.
But anyway again I just want to say that I have nothing against Kerry and I wouldn't get any pleasure from Kerry getting relegated.

Agree with you,but even before a ball was kicked I predicted this..In regards Meath, you say if they got promoted they would be killed, but the thing is,if they were good enough to get promoted they would be better(if ya understand what I mean),but they will do well to stay in the division. In general we are not working hard enough, don't have the players and unsure of our tactics..

Apart from ourselves the form book isn't really written yet. I know it's often folly to compare one game to the next but last Sunday puts Monaghan back in the pack a little. I believe however they have the easier run in remaining. Home to Louth and Galway and Laois gives them an opportunity to lift 6 more points making their away game to Armagh crucial to getting over the line. Down have Donegal in Newry and Laois away. They'll do well to pick up 4 points from these two fixtures and I'd expect them to pick up at most 2. So 12 points is likely to top the table. Donegal will gain 4 from their remaining home games, meaning a win in either Newry or Armagh will be sufficient. I expect us to top the table. The final, I think will be vs Monaghan and I expect a tougher encounter than last Sunday, but of course, Donegal to prevail. The only fly in the ointment is the form of our near neighbours in Div 1 but that'll most likely level itself out in the coming weeks also.

1554168 Garymc82 do you give Kildare no chance of even making it to the Leinster Final seing as if both Meath and Kildare win their earlier matches they will meet in the Leinster Semi-Final?
Its not that I give them no chance, Its more that I would be more confident of Meath beating Dublin in the final than Kildare.
Now I'm not trying to be hateful to Kildare, but based on recent seasons they seem unable to push on that extra step needed to win Leinster. I put that down to mental block rather than lack of talent.
Based on their League performances, I would say "Yes" Kildare should beat Meath and progress to the Leinster final this year. But Meath were in Division 3 last season, and arguably gave both Dublin and Tyrone tougher games. Also worth noting that Kildare had a decent National League campaign in 2013.

Point taken Garymc82 but I think we have a better team this year and I think Meath have gone backwards.Last year we did well considering it was our first year in Division 1 but we won a few of our earlier matches when in truth the other teams should have won (Mayo, Cork and Kerry maybe)whereas this year we lost to Tyrone last Sunday when we definitely should have won.

Meath and league just don't go together. At this stage last year we had been beat by Monaghan and Cavan and looked for a full half asybeen beat in Sligo until a second half resurgence, so I wouldn't say we have gone back just yet. Meath are a championship county and no manager has been able to change that mindset which is very disappointing. But we are where we are, and no matter what happens in run in Meath in championship will be different. Its just the way it is, I can't see us loosing to Carlow then it sets up a meeting with Kildare more than likely, again I can see us winning that. I said somewhere on a thread ages ago that I wouldn't be surprised if Meath got relegated and went on to win Leinster, now that was tongue in cheek . But that's just how Meath are. I do think we are the only county in Leinster that might and its a big might, but might beat Dublin. Nothing got to do with form

I agree that Kildare do Indeed have a stronger looking side this year. They are technically very sound footballers, and I really enjoyed the Kildare v Mayo game. You should have beaten Tyrone at the weekend there, but things like that have happened to all big sides at some stage or another.
I may well be wrong, but I still think Meath will be a serious outfit come Championship. I watched highlights of their game with Armagh, and they could easily have been out of sight early on in that game. As the game went on, they seemed to get tired and their game plan became loose enough for the brilliant Jamie Clarke to take his chances.
I wouldn't rule out Laois making a run for Promotion. After the loss to Donegal, many people had them wrote off completely. But they are a solid side, and on their day can cause serious problem for any team. They have quietly gone about winning their next 2 games, and they are capable of pulling off wins against any of their remaining opponents.
However I think Donegal will probably win promotion along with Down or Monaghan. The result of the Down v Donegal game will likely decide who joins Donegal. If Down win, it will likely be Donegal and Down. If Donegal win, then it could be decided over scoring difference between Down and Monaghan. Nothing for certain though.

GaryMac You must know something about Galway that I don't. I haven't seen Down play this year yet but their results have been good. In contrast to that Galways results have been bad and I've seen them play at home against Donegal and they were very poor. Can't see anything other than a Down win but as I said, maybe I'm missing something!! I predicted an Armagh win against Laois but you could very well be right on the draw. Laois were awful against us in the first game but that result seems to have kicked them up the £%^& as they have got good results since. I think we'll beat Meath but if they get a good start it could be closer than some think and apologies to Louth fans but I think Monaghan will win by 5 or 6 with both yourselves and Galway going to Div.3

Hard to know highking, hard to know.
Looking at the Donegal/Monaghan & Monaghan/Meath results you would think that -10 would be on & yet just when you think you have it all sorted out the game gives you an almighty kick in the rear end.

You predict either Down or Monaghan to gain promotion along with Donegal, and then you predict Galway to beat us this weekend? Do you think we can still gain promotion even if we lose to Galway? I certainly don't. Especially with us having Donegal, and Laois and Meath (both away) as our remaining games. This weekend is a must win for Down if we want promotion.

Donegal -10 @ 9/2 would be a brave bet alright but not entirely unreasonable, Donegal -5 @ evens is a far safer bet and represents a lot more value. Sad thing is though that Donegal -10 is probably a safer bet than Meath straight up @ 5/1, either way I'll abstain on this one.
