I see its ulster v the rest next weekend and looks like it could be an Ulster clean sweep too.
Its refreshing to read some of the Meath posters on this thread looking at Meath with a bit of realism. I don't think you'll be playing Division Three football next year though. I think you'll eke out a result or two to keep you safe. However there are one or two who are not living on this planet at all.
Suggestions of a Leinster title for Meath are way off the mark. I can't recall who said it but seriously you need to row back a small bit.

In fairness it is a very small majority of Meath lads who taught we would get promotion this year. Staying in the Division is what most of us taught would happen and if we were around promotion places at the end it would be a bonus. Thats not going to happen now so we need at least 2 more wins to guarantee we stay in DIv 2. If Galway and Louth continue losing we may only need to beat Louth in Drogheda to stay up

We may ONLY have to heat Louth in Drogheda. I make it sound so simple ha

I agree, I think all Meath need to do is beat the Wee County in Drogheda to stay up. I can't see Galway or Louth staying in Div 2.
Some very valid observations by Batterburger....!!

And a win v Donegal however unlikely it may seem where would that leave us?! ah the wonders of league uncertainty!

Seriously Wishful thinking. Donegal are almost firing on all cylinders so i believe it to be a complete mis-match. We will be lucky to lose by less than 10 points i reckon. That's not being disrespectful to my own county, Donegal are a top top team and will be there or there abouts come the end of the year. Meath won't

Chriscart I wouldn't get too carried away about Donegal "firing on all cylinders" just yet.
There were plenty of mistakes, wayward passes & shooting but we could see that the basics were all there & I could almost hear JMcG purring with pleasure at the defending. Some may not like it but properly done it is a pleasure to watch.
Yes, we probably will go up & a day out in HQ is always to be relished. But the main focus now is a Derry side going really well in Div 1, not Div 2 where it is all too easy to get sucked into a false sense of security.

That is exactly what was said before Dublin in 2010 and look what happened. But I agree for us to come within 10 would be a massive achievement.

I don't recall any one poster saying we would win leinster. I do think many said it should be objective to get there and give it one hell of a shot. But to say anyone said wed win it is lies. Even RD the most optimistic meath man I ave ever seen said we wouldn't win it. And low and behold I was looking at the poll on meath page and I just can't understand why all these meath posters coming out after the event didn't vote their views as main objective this year has promotion and winning leinster over 80% and staying in div 2 way behind. Ah sure never let the truth get in the way of saving face on a forum for a keyboard warrior. I said promotion was the main thing , my concern is that was always going to be difficult under the current management as has been proved. They are not up to the job. Nothing got to do with boylan and why anyone would mention that is stupid or more than likely trying to deflect from the fact that micko and mates are worse than banty, but sure its alright cause he's a meath man and not from another county. Pathetic. Micko should never have got the job and his results so far have born this out. We have not beaten one ulster team , we have not beaten one team raked higher than us. These are the facts try to death to defend him by blaming the players the weather the time of year the way the moon and stars are allinged or whatever feeble excuse you want, the fact is the players can't sub themselves the players don't pick the team the players don't set the team up the players don't make the game plan the players aren't the ones reading the game from the sideline. No lads that's micko and mates and they are the ones making a haims of it. Ahh but sure its alright lads he's a grand fellow and above all he's a meath man. Can you imagine been successful with aa outsider? The shame let's be happy heading back to div 3 and getting beat by carlow and london.

But thing is we were in the last two finals only to be beaten in 2012 by the reigning AI champions and last year by the soon to be AI champions, it's not like we were a million miles away getting beaten in first rounds or quarter finals. This year we may not even get to a Leinster final, if form is a true indicator then we probably will struggle but you just never know and the key thing is that if you do get to a final then why the not believe that you can win it!

A chairde, as a neutral scoping out what is looking more and more likely to be our division in 2015, can I just challenge any other neutrals to read this thread from the start and not get a great kick out of Ard Mhacha's victory in Páirc Tailteann. When I saw the result, it was with great glee I came into work today, and when the opportunity arose, started reading some of the predictions in the days leading up to the match.
The level of delusion in the Royal County about the team would make one think that a lot of mushrooms picked in early mornings in Sept/Oct were dried and are being enjoyed en masse over the last few weeks.
It's especially poignant because amidst all the raving nutjobs, who I suspect have a direct telepathic line to the ghosts of the 1949 team, are a few decent, humble and realistic Meathmen and women, and it's tough to remember them amidst the firestorm of lunacy. It's like Hitler in the bunker- I expect there's a few illusions of Panzer divisions around Ceannanus Mór in some brains that are going to sweep the Red Army into the Irish Sea at any hour.
PS I still think they'll stay up, because with Gaillimh clearly intent on joining Cill Chainnigh in 'Roinn 5', realistically there's only one relegation spot for 7 teams, and An Lú will have to display some mental firmness to put that last thrashing behind them. And do you know what will probably happen because I wrote this? You'll beat us in the last round next year for promotion!

Oh ok, listen I apologise for supporting and having faith in my county, I won't do it again. Also I'm pleased that you're getting a kick out of our demise because there ain't a whole lot to smile about in the Kingdom at the minute.

1543754 Monaghan,Down,Donegal are the three best teams in div 2 and it should be a good fight between them.

Not sure why the rest couldn't see this? Laois won't be good to get promoted while Meath should be delighted to stay up and they were lucky to get out of div 3 last year.

I remember saying that Meath could be serious contenders for the Leinster title this year.
Meath are not exactly known for being big performers on the National League stage in recent seasons, but come the summer they turn into a very formidable outfit.
Looking at Leinster this year, Dublin look slightly weaker so far than last season. If Meath improve on last season come championship, I wouldnt rule out a shock in Leinster.

Have you seen the teams Dublin have put out this year?To say they are looking slightly weaker,i agree with, but its a severely weakened Dublin, come the championship the team will be a lot stronger.
