Positives Dublin have won their last 4 Provincial Titles so in your Provincial Championship you's a re obviously the best it is just a case of taking the Provincial success you have and transfering it to a National stage. I feel that Pillar has done a good job with Dublin but just has'nt quite been able to make the team go then few steps further. In Alan Brogan who went off injured god this lad seems so unlucky with injury in big games he is one of the best forwards in Ireland, there is definite talent in the Dublin team but it's getting them to play like a team the defence seemed very loose and not a solid block I was very suprised at the very lack lustre performances from boh your midfielders they both seemed subdued even before the game started and the forward unit seemed to have no plan B when the influential Brogan went off injured. If a manager could come in and make the back 6 play more solidly as a unit give the midfield pair a bit of a psycological talking to before the game to get them up for it and make it one of the other forwards responsability to step up and be leader when the likes off Brogan is injured then this Dublin Team no doubt could cause serious damage on the National Stage, 2009 will be a very important year for Dublin I have no doubt. Good Luck to the Dubs. Tir'Eoghain Abu'.

Ok, I've been biting my tongue in not wanting to have a good rant but...

I still think we have the bones of a very good team. We just need the right manager, I've always been of that opinion since Pat O'Neill left. I've mentioned it before but people tend to forget that after Kerry won sam in 2000 we really could have seen a great team fade away. Kerry have always had great players on their team for the last 10 years but going by their form in 01, 02 and 03 you certainly wouldn't have thought so. Once they got rid of the huff and puff tactics which was all Paidi had and got technical about it, suffered a little bit of humility and responded to the fact that gaelic football had changed in light of the impact that the northern teams had brought, they're all the better for it.

I've had my doubts about Pat O'Shea but you can see after every game and the only game he has lost in the champo that they've learnt their lessons and are correcting problems as they go. Caffrey was in the job for 4 years and didn't correct a number of problem areas. You can argue that perhaps the players weren't there to fulfill the full back role nor where there any real characters left in Dublin club football who are leaders of men on the field, but making bad calls on the line over and over again is a sign of a bad manager. I know that comes across cruel but your achievements in championship football is based on only 4 or maybe 5 games a year, you only get a few games a year to prove that you're improving and learning as you go.

After the heartbreak of losing to Kerry by 2 points last year, I really thought Caffrey had turned a corner and the team was slowly but surely getting closer to where we wanted to be. But the fact that he more or less went with the exact same format of last year meant that it was easier for teams to know how to play against Dublin. For all his dabbling with new players during the league he still never replaced the stop gap (Ross McConnell) at full back nor did the attack ever look like a cohesive unit. This stems from certain players thinking they are the bees knees and trying to beat 3 or 4 players and not passing the ball. I find it too hard to believe that there are no decent number 3's in the whole of dublin. Even a half decent no.3 is still a player that is accustomed to playing at full back and perhaps could develop into a better player. Yeah we tried Niall O'Shea there in 06, it didn't work but there are more full backs out there. As for the forwards not playing as a unit this is all down to coaching.

Why not take a leaf out of Kerry's book. Change tactics, accept that we can't bully or intimidate counties anymore, accentuate the positives instead of allowing our negatives to be exposed. We won't take on a non dub manager unless the county board and some of the old school powers that be swallow a little bit of pride and accept that we need to start looking outside the box.

Coppers and Flannerys!

They've brought professionalism to a new level. Cahill and Shane Ryan would be footballers i'd admire. Cahill never seems to get the publicity that the rest do, and he's twice the footballer that Griffin, Cullen or Henry is

I don't think any of the dublin backs came out with any credit from the game, even cullen and cahill were nowhere to be seen when tyrone came up the field. Bernard Brogan came out with some credit. Vaughan was the player that could have hurt us. Dublin Rely on Alan Brogan too much. They dont have enough workrate and dont have big ame players such as ryan. As for the manager its a sign of a good manager when you can change it when things are going well... McConnell was allways an accident waiting to happen and why wasnt Paul Casey, Brogan, Vaughan starting?!

Very harsh on Keaney Liam, he got the goal that briefly brought ye back into the match and scored another point which made him your top scorer on the day. I remember his distribution being good when he dropped deep for ball too.

I think he will be very important to Dublin if they want to win an All-Ireland in the next few seasons.

As for Cahill, put him back in full back to solve that glaring problem. He did very well there before!!

A very bad day for Dublin but in reality they are not 12 points behind Tyrone or anything like it.It was just one of those days hard to explain, nothing went right and to be honest I don't know where Tyrone stand. They are certainly not as good as 03/05.How good are they I don't know and I don't know if the next game will tell us anything much.A new manager, the right one should get things on track again for Dublin so it's not all doom and gloom.

The only positive thing about last Sat was that the management team stepped down.I always believed thet they should have gone last year. There are good footballers around the county, you just need someone with a proven track record to come in and show them how to play as a team.look at Davy Fitz with Waterford,he came in midway through the season and got the players to believe in themselfs and now they are in an All Ireland.
