Anyone got anything POSITIVE to say about Dublin??

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

In light of our apathetic display against a very good Tyrone team and the torrent of (mostly) negative comments about the Dublin team on HS in the meantime , I'd be interested to hear if anyone has anything positive to say? What Dub players would you like to see line out for your own county etc etc? It's a genuine question and please keep the responses genuine as well.

Wouldn't say no to the Brogan bros if we could get a loan of them of ya for a few years.
I like Cluxton as well but we really dont need him.

to be honest dubupnorth it's hard to take any positives out of that display, fair to say that the leinster title is meaningless given that Wexford are in a semi and Dublin are out, Wexford for sure have gained experience from games in qualifiers whilst Dublin have been sitting around waiting for a qualifier without competitive action. Out of the current Dublin panel the players that most counties would take are Alan Brogan, David Henry and Paul Griffin. These players exude class and would get onto any county team, maybe all the talk of a Kerry Dublin final made some of the players look beyond Tyrone, I really think that Tyrone badly exposed some of the weakness in this current Dublin team/regime. I've watched a lot club football in Dublin and the players are there, just takes that right management team and player panel to be playing in the all Ireland final, only those 3 players above would get into the Dublin all Ireland winning team of 1995.

The brogans wouldn't be refused in monaghan! Don't know what you're on about with quinn, there's alot of teams he wouldn't get near, would he make the kerry bench?

Was thinking that myself Liam. Keaney in fairness has got the ability , Mossy is too hot and cold for me though and is no where near as consistent from frees as Vaughan is.

one bad day at the office does not make them poor players over night. first half ciaran gourley got the run around from quinn. went pair shaped for them in the second half right enough, but these things happen. would gladly take the two brogans for armaghs half forward line.

Some top class players on that Dublin team. Whelan, Ryan, Brogans, Cullen, Cluxton all class acts. Unfortunately they're let down by some of the others. Unfortunately thats life.

Would transfer Alan Brogan up to Tyrone anyday and take his brother along for the company.

Other positives has to be the way the supporters turned up on time (drownded) and for those who stayed on saturday to the bitter end - fair play.

Quinn and Kearney are not up to the grade at all. A Brogan is a serious footballer, lot of class and talent. Cluxton is a good keeper but there aren't many bad ones in the Gaa to be honest and his kick out is very suspect. I have been among the first to slag off Dublin but in fairness 4 Leinsters in a row don't come easy. Meath would take one at the minute. I don't think anyone hates Dublin but they do hate the media frenzy that surrounds them. Not the teams fault but sure I suppose its part of the craic.

If Conal keaney could regain his form he would be one of the best players in the country. I would take him no bother. I would even consider him at full forward for the Cork hurling team. Would also take the Brogan brothers, Shane Ryan and brian Cullen.

In my opinion, Dublin have the second best set of players talent wise in the country. They really should have won an All-Ireland in the four years gone by. But anyway, Stephen Cluxton, Paul Griffin, Barry Cahill, Shane Ryan, Alan Brogan, Bernard Brogan and Diarmuid Connolly are among the best players in their respective positions in the country. And there is that other Brogan lad who is meant to be a superstar in the making. Whichever manager takes over, he is going to have a wealth of talent at his disposal. But he needs to get the mental aspect right, get ye lot believing ye are going to win Sam. That is what Pillar failed to do and indeed where a lot of managers fail - get the maximim potential out of his players.
