Funny how Mayomen rarely claim Charles Haughey but try to claim our late great Dermot! fact is Dermot grew up in Roscommon, was educated in Roscommon and most importantly kicked his first football in Roscommon. The Majority in Roscommon are born in either Ballinasloe,Castlebar or Galway city nowadays so by your theory i suppose they aren't rossies.

Gutted, I was, heartbroken even, to see our first Taoiseach, the great CJ, shouting his little head off for the Dubs against his native county in the Padraig Brogan semi final of 85. But then Charlie's parents were just blow-ins from Derry I think, just passing through. Dermot on the other hand was Mayo through and through. Dermot's parents were as Mayo as Michael Davitt and Granuaile.

Just looking through this list and the amount that has included Graham geraghty as a villain is surprising, he never really was dirty or sly on the field of play. It must just have been how damn good he was. The Lyons and coyle nominated I understand, also Joe Sheridan? Ah come on, really? Joe a villain? Never. Yes I can see why Louth fans might say that but if sludden had done his job properly and given the peno no one would even remember what happened Joe been thrown over the line. But he is no villain, hard man , or near it, when you recall the likes of the 2 Lyons Harnan coyle O'Rourke McDermott fay etc Joe was a pussycat.
