Did Kildare share the money they got from horse owners and others when they were trying to buy an All Ireland?
No.

Ahem, so you are saying that Dublin bought the all ireland this year?
Nice work...

realdub, I hate to break it to you, but we would get a share of that money also! I like your idea of thinking bigger though. Get your acts together up there and get some massive funds coming in. We have bills to pay.

Give them nothing I say.

What is ours is ours.

DCB worked bloody hard to get that sponsorship deal in place and now our poor country folk want a share of it.

Get off the stage lads and get your own sponsorship deals in place.

We already put our League gate receipts into the pot for everyone.

If the roles were reversed ye woudlnt cough up either so dream on....

That's pretty impressive wumming - jumping on a non-story about a county secretary suggesting a sharing of sponsorship over 7 weeks after the story of the deal was broken and using it as an opportunity to have a pop despite the fact that the sharing suggestion has been made several times previously and topic has been discussed ad nauseum before.

Troll on you crazy diamond!

If it was a Leitrim official that came out with this you could feel sorry for them. Kildare is probably the richest county in Ireland. Plenty of multinationals and horse breeders.....could Kildare GAA no approach them, set out their stall and try and get a lucrative deal?

Also is the current Dublin deal not less than the Vodafone one? I wish people would stop moaning and get on with it.

just some comment from some lady in some meeting or other. Hardly going to be seriously looked at. Let the dubs handle their cash their way, nothing to do with the rest of us.

Good point Yew Tree. Kildare were raking it in when Dwyer was there. DCB buy hurlies and footballs. Kildare .... well, you know what they do with their money.

Let's split Dublin in two too! And let's make them start the next campaign without anybody who has already got a Celtic Cross!!!

Dublin, dual status, balanced books, fully funded underage structure.....

Yeah I get the envy, but on the plus side for TheMaster and KeyserSoze we aren't any use.........

Oh wait.....

@Mes Amis: There is a hurling championship too in case you were not aware of it. Two All Ireland finals sold out. 70,000 people in Croke Park at Clare v Limerick hurling semu final. The crowd at Cork v Dublin hurling semi final was 2:1 in favour of Cork (who weren't playing on their own doorstep either). Full houses at the Munster hurling final and Munster football final, near enough to it at Ulster football final. In football, there were big crowds at Mayo v Tyrone and Mayo v Donegal, or will you try to tell me they were Fubs? How many other games up and down the country in championship and league were played? How many big club matches up and down the country? This 'Dubs bankroll the GGAA' is a complete red herring and fallacy that only the Dubs believe and is a non-argument.

all ireland finals sell out every year!!!
there was 62 thousand at limerick v clare the same as was at dublin v cork !!
I fail to see how cork outnumbered dublin 2:1 in the crowd seen as dublin sold 25 thousand tickets.
cork have always had abig hurling support, dublin have never had a tradition of supporting hurling as the previous game we were after winning was our first provincial title in 52 years where as cork have been a top team all the time.
I dont hear you talking about the previous week where there was a football game between both counties and you could count the number of cork supporters if you wished.

Dublin clubs already have a huge advantage in recruiting kids from schools - with full time GPOs in a lot of clubs and then the added bonus of having them around to help coach underage teams.

With some extra funding a lot of counties across the country could employ more full time coaches to go into schools and to also help out clubs.
Not to mention having more coaches to do more development work with underage development squads.
Especially those counties which have urban areas that need a bigger GAA presence.

There is definitely merit to having some sort of balancing out of this sponsorship money in the GAA. That is why the money from the All Ireland series is not doled out to the counties who reach the knockout stages - the same counties would continually get the biggest share.

Ridiculous idea in reality..Dublin for obvious reasons are always going to be the top dogs in terms of sponsorship. If AIG were informed that their 4 million would be shared out you'd see Dublin with a blank jersey fairly fast.

In theory its a great idea however. But how to do it? anyone wishing to sponsor a team pays into a GAA fund and then funds are shared equally?...a spending/funding cap be placed on counties?..what would go on jerseys then?
