Personally I hope all GAA coverage is taken from TV3, in fact I would not shed one tear if TV3 ceased to exist altogether as it really does consist of an awful lot of car crash and sensationalist television with very poor production values, licence fee or not they should be able to do far better, more choice is good although I don't think UTV will be rushing into the GAA market they will most likely retain exclusive rights to their soaps and Saturday night drivel that TV3 currently thrust upon the nation

I agree that they show a lot of trash but their GAA coverage issn't as awful as people make out. Their main problem is that they don't use as many sideline mics as RTE so the atmosphere sounds muted. I find Mike Finnerty is a better commentator than anything on RTE with the exception of Darragh Maloney though and Cooper doesn't annoy me as much as he does some people.

I tried that Ormond but sometimes it puts one word on a line and looks worse.I will try to type write accross though.

You post anyway you see fit REDANDBLACK30, there is nothing wrong with it and in fact I find it easier to read like that, it's more compact, we're not writing essays here!

Actually Ormondbannerman, could you please just put in a space between the post you're quoting and what you are then saying yourself? Difficult to see which is which at times

Any chance that you could use some capitals and a smidgen of punctuation in your posts Ormond?
I already use both punctuation and capitals in my posts. Have you not seen most of my posts where I do that?

why would you want less GAA on tv as without TV3 there would be less GAA on TV as RTE will not show more and who will take up the baton?
TV3 clearly has a well defined market for its tv coverage and they do quite a few excellent shows mixed in with some crap shows just like all stations

We're not writing essays but its easier to read posts when they use the full width of the page.

If you have seen virtually all of my posts the post I quote when I do is usually bolded or underlined so its very clear which is which.

I'd echo the criticisms alot of people have voiced here, I would be no fan of TV3's programming (content I would consider purile, real bottom of the barrel, lowest common denominator type stuff). Just seems to be importing the worst type of programming, without adding anything original. The ads do seem to be too frequent, and altogether its a bit of a depressing watch. That said, I'd hate to see an indigenous broadcaster fold, no matter what its hue, the more Irish broadcasters being watched, the better (imo). It would also be 2 channels that would go I think (is 3e still broadcasting?).

But when it comes to GAA coverage, it really seems to be a half-heated effort on their part. Their coverage has the ability to suck the excitement out of even the best games, and their production in general seems a little cheap and thrown together. Much prefer to see the games on RTE.
