Is there such a thing? It will vary depending on who you talk to.

Example being the mid 90s were classed as such. Why? Between 95 and 97 Clare won 2 all Irelands and Wexford 1. Clare was huge Wexford to but Wexford had let themselves down a few times in Leinster prior to that. Offaly won the all Irelands either side of that. They had been a top top side for years at that stage.

A Dub fan might say this is there golden age a Leinster and a league title within 2 years of each other 2 all Ireland semis and the scalp of Kilkenny

A 20 year old Kilkenny man might say the last 6 years is the golden age of hurling a 50 year old may say different and a Cork man might say its the 1940s.

My guess is we haven't seen it yet. The real golden age will come when any team from about 14 teams will start the season with realistic hopes of being all Ireland champions

Seems to be a small minority who think of both football and hurling when you say 'golden era of the GAA'

For me the 1930s. Whatever about the football and hurling, the handball and rounders were at a standard yet unmatched :)

I think the golden period for football has been from 2001 and the introduction of the back door. Seven different All-Ireland winners, Provincial crowns for Laois, Westmeath, Sligo, Monaghan, great runs in the All-Ireland series for Fermanagh, Wexford, lots of great games, players and crowds attending the games.
