All-Ireland club hurling championship

"heaven forbid Oulart might think a club who have just won an intermediate championship in Carlow last year might not be great"

They won the intermediate All-Ireland but they were/are senior champions in Carlow.

but surely this practice match was wanted earlier in the year?maybe our carlow expert with all the stories might elaborate.

to be honest whyalwaysme,i really dont care if there is animosity between wexford and carlow, but it's fair to say just like Einstien himself said "to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".if Carlow werent going to support wexford in trying to defend the current league format, why should we help them out?all this animosity is one way i think, carlow seem to have massive issues with wexford.i for one dont care why that is the case.

It was win win for yee regardless Perfect 10 because yee still would have been playing the top teams in the country so why would our inclusion deter your prospects? If anything it would have given Wexford another competitive game! Yeer representive shouldnt have promised us the vote if he wasnt going to go with it, end of story!

Perfect - if you know anything about Carlow and hurling in Carlow you would know very well that along the shared border are Carlow men who regularly attend and support hurling in Wexford. That is a fact. Myshall this year had one of your greats coaching them and for years Kildavin, Myshall and half of St Mullins would and continue to support Wexford. In fact many in MLR would also be Wexford supporters. So - I don't know where you are going with this animosity stuff.
If you are referring to Wexford not voting for the Carlow- Westmeath proposal - when it seems that Wexford said they would vote and then did not - if that's the case there is bound to be annoyance at the least.

Regarding the practice match between Oulart and MLR, I know from my time as club sec that you would get a lot of calls like this, and you'd NEVER tell a team they werent good enough for a practice match, even if you believed it was the case. You'd just tell them you've league matches, other practice matches, etc. Urban myth if ever there was one.

I dont know to be honest PortInFaithful, I dont know enough about The Rower but Buffers Alley are a grade below where they should be hurling, so I think they would fancy their chances.

The Kilkenny champions (Clara) beat the Wexford champions by 24 points in this competition last year if thats anything to go by.

gaelicgab, that was an Oylegate team who were down to 14 after 10 minutes,13 after 20,12 after 30 and I think finished the game with 11.and Buffers Alley are a better team than they were.a lot better.

Also that Clara team went on to win the All-Ireland & the Kilkenny senior championship since.

what you have said there is more embarassing for them then losing by 24 points? what happened in that game? Does this club have a reputation for this?

bennybunny, Oylgate are a club with a bit of a reputation for this. Wouldnt be the first time or wont be the last time. Probably the team in senior hurling our club hate playing the most for that very reason. Thankfully they were relegated again this year.

Serious performance by Na P to go to Ennis and obliterate the Clare champions.

MLR worth a punt, surely! I see Darren Stamp is back for Oulart & Eoin Moore came on the last day too so they're at full strength now, though...

skysports, who says it would be a shock? I can assure you that unlike almost every vibe coming from Carlow, Oulart are not taking this challenge lightly or underestimating them. Why players come out with nonsense such as "I know they could think about Carlow champions and the standard of Carlow hurling" is beyond me. Only Carlow seem to be thinking this way, Oulart surely are not nor is anybody in Wexford.

Back to the game, I think Darren Stamp and a fit Eoin Moore will be big plus for Oulart. I think if they play like they did in the 2nd half v Clara and K/K they should have enough, but it will be tight and a final is a final and can go either way.

Afer losing 3 finals in a row, I hope Oulart can do it. No team has tried harder to win one, they have trained so hard for the past 5 years, contributed more to Wexford hurling and camogie teams and I hope, even though from a rival club who they beat this year, Sunday will be the culmination of those efforts and they will be rewarded. And being honest I think they will win by 1-2 points after a titanic battle.

Oulart will have 10+ to spare at the weekend. They have beaten two super teams in Kilcormac and Clara and have been around the block long enough now.

MLR aren't a patch on them, they beat a Ballyboden side weighted down by their own pressures to prove themselves on the national stage and they still had to push to the absolute limit to bet them.

It wouldn't matter who Oulart were playing. After losing 3 finals in-a-row they will not take ANYONE for granted.
