County Finals

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I watched the games on TV4 today. Both games were hugely impacted by the weather. The sad point is that all counties should have played their county finals by now.

So the logic is that counties need to focus playing their championship games - all of them - in decent weather.

It has become accepted in the GAA community that county finals are played in really poor weather conditions and this should not be the case. Finals should be played in decent weather. So - play club games all through the year.
County managers have too much power and are dictating when club games are being played. Not ehat it shuld be about.

Was down in Castlebar yesterday for bothe minor and senior finals....can't remember being at a football game before with the weather so bad. Driving wind and rain. Wells one to Castlebar....they had lost two finals and it was third time lucky.

Congratulations to St. Brendan's on winning the Kerry senior hurling championship! Good luck to them in the Munster intermediate championship :)

Anti Mayo Birgade?? It was a terrible game of football every Mayo poster would agree with that I'm not slagging off Mayo football I'm just saying that yesterday's game was a shocker which was probably down to the weather and the fact that Castlebar were the way better team.

Beal....was thinking the same myself

Clondalkindub - the Mayo county final was a terrible game of football littered with mistakes and bad shooting. That said the hurricane like weather did play its part and I would give both teams the benefit of the doubt. I don't think James Horan will have spotted any new forwards that could come in for a Mayo next year though.

Yew tree Barry Moran was very impressive I thought. How come the youngest O Shea brother was a sub? He was on the Mayo panel last year so was he injured or what?

Tom King and Neil Douglas both very impressive, the former for his shooting at important times in awful, awful conditions, the latter because of his ability to perform after a very poor start.

While the weather was poor i think its a bit pointless using that as the main excuse for yet another poor Mayo final. This year will be six year in a row that a side from Mayo won't have won a Connacht title and TBH James Horan is working miracles to get a decent county team out of that poor quality county championship.

Gala lover.....you attend many Mayo club games?

I remember Hyde in 11 alright but last Sunday was a s bad. That said it was a poor game. I wouldn't worry too much about Mayo club sides faring outside the county. We had great club teams in the past winning all Ireland's and getting to many more finals but it didn't do the county team any good.

Surely Tg4 are showing the Dublin football county final? They haven't showed it since Boden played Jude's 3 or 4 years ago , it's between Ballymun and Vincent's it should be a classic with Connolly, Brennan ,Mossy ,Philly ,James Mac, Rock etc playing, lets be honest all of Ireland want to see the Dublin final so hopefully tg4 don't let us down.

Crickey, you'll be made look rather foolish when Castlebar beat Corofin . You seem to be very anti Mayo in all your posts, that's not healthy .

Why do the rest of the country want to watch the Dublin final? What are you basing this latest piece of logic on?
