County Finals

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

How in the name of all that is good can a county that exited the championship on the 03rd Aug not play their county final til 20th Oct? It beggars belief and now you have the situation where murphy will play 2 massive games in 24 hours. What a joke the GAA is sometimes

Sure its the same with the provincial club championship. I know its a great tradition having it on paddys day but my god there is no need for it to be so draged out.The biggest problem in the gaa is fixture congestion.

Donegal started the championship in April I think too, to make it worse.

11 weeks to run off a competition? It's a joke. If i was murphy i would refuse to play for my club.

Read somewhere that brendan murphy cannot play the rules series because of club committments in carlow. Carlow! When did they exit the championship?? And they still havent finished their county championship. Joke! You hear so much talk of counties struggling to give club players games bacause of the intercounty fixtures. Its nothing to do with that, it's clearly incompetence on the part of county boards

Agree 100%.

The GAA need a masterplan by where they sit all counties down and say these are formats we allow you to play off depending on the number of clubs a county has, let there be a locked in timeline for each round of games with a finish date no later than October for all county finals both codes to be played.

Just watching Crokes v Stacks here, god I love watching Gooch he's the greatest of all time IMO , Kerry lads just wondering about Crokes number 11 I think his name is Daithi Casey he looks very good with pace to burn is he on the county panel? Or if not why not ?

a mystery to me why daithi casey isnt on the kerry panel at least.he was the chief reason why crokes beat my club last 2 years in munster club...if theres 6 better forwards in kerry they will win next years all ireland!!

why on earth did austin stacks allow dr crokes to humiliate them for the last 4 or 5 minutes of that game by playing keep ball back and forth the pitch up and down it,surely show some pride and get stuck into them, they didnt even look remotely interested in tackling them.
dont see why they are always in ahurry to run the provincial club finals off before christmas when they could easily play them in the new year and spread it out more seen as the final is a whole 3 months after the provincial finals

Daithi casey has been in Kerry's training panel for a number of years. To me he looks more talented than Kieran O Leary but unfortunately
he just wasnt able to make the breakthrough.
he is starting to push on now at about 24 or 25 so probably unlikely he will make the breakthrough now.

Daithi casey is very good for Crokes because he fits into the way they play just like a few more Crokes players. I dont think he would add alot to Kerry at the moment

Ya Casey was class today he has actually got faster, and moomoo is right he fits into the way the crokes play, but isn't that kinda the way Fitzy has the county team playing now!

Surely there's room for him in that Kerry half forward line? He looks to have it all very similar to Declan O Sullivan. You can't beat Kerry football compared to the Meath final it was miles ahead on all levels.

Agreed the difference between the Meath final and the Kerry final was ridiculous.
It was as if most of the crokes players were or looked like county players , whereas in
Navan more looked like junior players! I couldn't get over how poor the Meath final was, I was at Meath finals a few years back which were far better than that

Couldn't believe the standard of the Meath final, very very poor.

Well the two games in two days certainly didn't affect Murphy yesterday!! He was awesome for the entire game and showed real leadership when the game was in the balance in the first half. His power and footballing ability yesterday was unreal, scoring 1-5 and setting up multiple scores meaning he was well deserving of his Man of The Match award.
