Kieran Hughes (Monaghan) - surely. single handedly nearly delived the Ulster championship to Monaghan. Immense contribution. Caused Tyrone multitude of problems in semi as well and hauled down by that infamous tackle from Cavanagh when bursting through to get a crucial goal.
Dunne and Freeman were ok and Brogan other than AI was only very average this year.

Surely Hughes has this !

Going on the basis that BB wore the 15 shirt he should surely be nominated as a corner forward. I would have to suggest he shouldn't be nominated for full forward... Kieran Hughes had a great run in Ulster and gets the nod from me.. Will vote for BB tomorrow..

Hughes had a brilliant Ulster final but was poor against Tyrone and got himself sent off stupidly. Similarly to Brogan his form was patchy but when they played well they played very, very well. Bernards highs were higher though. If it was me I wouldn't go so specific as to limiting players to the number on their back, Dunne had #14 on his back but was really a corner forward, Bernard wore #15 on his back but obviously wasn't restricted to staying in the left corner forward position, and so on...

If it was me all corner forwards would be nominated for the 2 positions, and COC wouldn't be in the team.

Anyway, I'll give it to Dunne, he had a brilliant year.

Have to say I'm a little surprised with the votes for Kieran Hughes, and I'm from Monaghan! Yes he's had a good year, and was brilliant in the Ulster final, but wasn't at that high level for long enough to deserve this imo. MaigheoAbu, it wasn't him that Cavanagh hauled down, that was McManus(who for the record I think deserves the no. 15 jersey). Apart from an early point in that game Hughes was very quiet and got two silly yellows to get himself sent off, it was McManus who caused them all sorts of problems.

As I say Brogan turned it on when it mattered most, so in this category he takes it for me.

In biggest games Bernard produced the goods ,when substituted earlier in the campaign never batted an eyelid and was stronger for the next game.
Dunne had a great year but struggled in the two big games when the spotlight was on him and whinged when substituted ,
Brogan for me.

If just for his incredible group stage league performance against Mayo this year, it has to be Brogan.

Brogan get's my vote.Dunne was easily marked against the big teams,Freeman would of got it only he was WRONGLY taken off in the All Ireland Final.

Kieran Hughes was brilliant against Cavan and he was unreal against Donegal in the Ulster Final,he got drawing into a slagging match with Tyrone and paid the price for not keeping the head........but he's young and will learn, roll on next season,he won't be marked!

Bernard Brogan...solely for the all Ireland final. Dunne was shown up against Monaghan by Drew Wylie

By god farney where did you even watch the Monaghan Cavan game. Drew Wylie marked Eugene Keating and Colin Walshe marked Martin Dunne. Never ceases to amaze me how People can make such silly statements

Brogan. I would give him the player of the year award also. Did it when it mattered most.

On a side note, admin: your opening post stated that players will be selected in the position they played and a corner back will have worn 2 or 4 etc.

Brogan didn't wear 14 did he? I know he marked Cafferky and I know Dunne played in the corner a lot but please be consistent. One huge gripe with the actual awards is that it is blatantly obvious that the team is selected before the nominations are released and this becomes very transparent when players are nominated out of position (eg O'Sullivan/Cavanagh)
