Kieran Hughes (Monaghan) - surely. single handedly nearly delived the Ulster championship to Monaghan. Immense contribution. Caused Tyrone multitude of problems in semi as well and hauled down by that infamous tackle from Cavanagh when bursting through to get a crucial goal. Going on the basis that BB wore the 15 shirt he should surely be nominated as a corner forward. I would have to suggest he shouldn't be nominated for full forward... Kieran Hughes had a great run in Ulster and gets the nod from me.. Will vote for BB tomorrow.. ceefarr (Mayo) - Posts: 39 - 18/10/2013 13:31:36 1502823 Link 0 |
Hughes had a brilliant Ulster final but was poor against Tyrone and got himself sent off stupidly. Similarly to Brogan his form was patchy but when they played well they played very, very well. Bernards highs were higher though. If it was me I wouldn't go so specific as to limiting players to the number on their back, Dunne had #14 on his back but was really a corner forward, Bernard wore #15 on his back but obviously wasn't restricted to staying in the left corner forward position, and so on... Have to say I'm a little surprised with the votes for Kieran Hughes, and I'm from Monaghan! Yes he's had a good year, and was brilliant in the Ulster final, but wasn't at that high level for long enough to deserve this imo. MaigheoAbu, it wasn't him that Cavanagh hauled down, that was McManus(who for the record I think deserves the no. 15 jersey). Apart from an early point in that game Hughes was very quiet and got two silly yellows to get himself sent off, it was McManus who caused them all sorts of problems. patk (Monaghan) - Posts: 948 - 18/10/2013 14:14:53 1502856 Link 0 |

In biggest games Bernard produced the goods ,when substituted earlier in the campaign never batted an eyelid and was stronger for the next game. AthCliath (Dublin) - Posts: 4347 - 18/10/2013 18:25:57 1502983 Link 0 |

If just for his incredible group stage league performance against Mayo this year, it has to be Brogan. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4748 - 18/10/2013 19:41:06 1503011 Link 0 |

Bernard Brogan...solely for the all Ireland final. Dunne was shown up against Monaghan by Drew Wylie Farney (Monaghan) - Posts: 819 - 19/10/2013 12:27:39 1503112 Link 0 |
By god farney where did you even watch the Monaghan Cavan game. Drew Wylie marked Eugene Keating and Colin Walshe marked Martin Dunne. Never ceases to amaze me how People can make such silly statements shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1948 - 19/10/2013 14:59:57 1503149 Link 0 |

When are we picking the number 15? KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 19/10/2013 21:51:46 1503317 Link 0 |
Brogan. I would give him the player of the year award also. Did it when it mattered most. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5305 - 20/10/2013 11:03:19 1503347 Link 0 |
