The problem with Keith Higgins and why he doesn't get the recognition he deserves is because he is always so consistently good. The last 6/7 years he has been one of the best players in the country. When players like Aiden O Shea have one good game they get more recognition. None of the players going for young player of the year performed when it mattered, but o Connor did end up as top scorer after playing only a handful of games so I give it to him. MDMC gets my vote for senior as he always puts in a great shift but I feel if mayo put someone like Vaughan on him in the final who would have has the pace and power to match him to win those well placed kick outs it could of been a different story.

This dublin team deserved there all Ireland and the players seem like a decent bunch, no show boating like certain players have done in the past. Sorry about Andy Moran's celebration after he scored the goal, embarrassing stuff. I believe Dublin will put back to back all Ireland's. Mayo need new forwards, just not good enough to be honest.

The problem this year is that he hasn't played enough in one given position. He deserves an All Star for most holes plugged in a single season.

A lot of posters here must've been on holidays for the Tyrone v Mayo semi final. Sean Cavanagh was beaten up a stick by Seamus O'Shea. Kavanagh went missing when it really mattered.

You have voted Michael Darragh Macauley and Sean Cavanagh as the top two midfielders of 2013. Well done to both.

Some may be surprised at the exclusion of Aidan O Shea. Aidan turned in one of the great individual performances of the year against Donegal.

However, Sean Cavanagh had his finest ever year in the Red Hand jersey, his points tally was extraordinary.

Meanwhile Michael Darragh was the heartbeat of the Dublin team.

Our nominees for the right half forward position are Paul Finlay of Monaghan, Cian Mackey of Cavan, Mattie Donnelly of Tyrone, Paul Flynn of Dublin and Mayo's Kevin McLoughlin. Voting finishes at 10pm tonight.

Flynner

As Darragh O'Se no less said of him, the perfect modern footballer

What exactly did Flynn do? Mayo half backs ran riot in the final. He's a great lad for running around, and always skies a ball or two towards the corner flag, but after that?

Cian Mackey or Graham Reilly. Miles better.

Has to be Paul Flynn. He is the prototype modern half forward. Can score, defend (played as extra full back v Kerry when Donaghy was brought on and covered for ROC in last 10 mins of All Ireland final). And has an incredible engine, what more could you want!!
