1498680 This page is quickly becoming a farce, its not going to be anywhere close to the actually all star team (not that it is meant to be) but its not going to be anywhere close to the actual team of the year either. its just turning into sour mayo supporters and mouthy dubs trying to talk up how great there players are, its a joke.
That where your wrong the Dubs never hype up their own players everyone else does, they just pick the best player who just so happens to be a Dublin player every time

"Are you fed up with how the All Stars are chosen? Not happy that the defence could consist of four full backs and two centre half backs? We are asking our readers to choose their All Star football team of 2013.
Players will be chosen in the positions from where they played the majority of their football this season. A right full back will have worn the number 2 shirt for most of the season and not at full or left half back.
Each day we will provide three or four nominations, but if you feel another player deserves your vote then feel free to do so.
Each registered forum user gets one one vote. The finish line will be strictly 10.00pm each night except over weekends.
Our nominations for the goalkeepers spot are: Rob Hennelly (Mayo) Rory Beggan (Monaghan) Stephen Cluxton (Dublin) Brendan Kealy (Kerry)
So let's be hearing from you."
Admin has changed the whole premise of the picking. The whole reason that this team was started. I change my pick for GK to the Gooch because I'm afraid he might not get centre half forward.

Jackos_Wacko All star team of the year should be the position you played in not because you had a fantastic year. Cian O Sullivan shouldn't be allowed be picked at number 6 for the simple reason he didn't play a full championship match there he always lined out at midfield. Same with Cavanagh he had a brilliant year at midfield but gets nominated for half forward even though he never played there.
Exactly right. Brennan was deemed to be a better centreback than o'sullivan throughout the year. Just because he had a good half hour there once doesnt change that fact. If he cant start at chb for his own side, then he shouldnt be eligible for the position.
Wonderingabout has shown that the whole premise of this thread was to pick a team of guys strictly on their position. In light of wonderingabout's post, and the misunderstanding that followed, I think the chb position should be redone today, with it being restricted to guys who played in the role for at least 2 full games in the championship. The same rule should be applied going forward for all positions. That would remedy the current situation and give people a fair guideline for future picks.

did donal vaughan actualy play centre back in games if being honest he wore the number 6 jersey but spent very little time at centre half back too. for me cian o sullivan was one of dublins best players all year and didnt get credit he deserved up until after the kerry game

Why bother doing it again? I haven't counted up but I don't think enough people voted Cian in anyways.

The reason we allowed Cian O Sullivan's nomination for the centre half back position was because he did play a certain amount of football in that spot, albeit for a short time.
If we did make a mistake it was not nominating Keith Higgins for the left full back position. Rather his name was kept intact for the centre half forward spot. But again readers had the option of choosing Keith, like Cian O Sullivan at 6, in that role. Our nominations are not written in stone, just a guide
There was a certain amount of experimentation for the number 4 jersey with the not voting for your own county rule but this idea was mooted to try and get a little bit of impartiality aboard. It was not going to distort the overall voting procedure and we feel in these offices that Colin Walshe was the proper choice.
Anyway Cian O Sullivan got the number 6 jersey with Peter Harte and Ger Brennan polling well.
As to the left half back slot, our nominations are Colm Boyle of Mayo, Jack McCaffrey, Dublin, Gary Sice, Galway and Tyrone's Conor Gormley.
10pm closing time, the not your own county rule is finished and again please be fair.

Colm Boyle of Mayo great player and had a great season, did well in the final but Dean Rock won a lot of possession off him but he still gets my vote. Jack up to the semi final was walking it but his last two performances just sees him lose out for me.

Colm Boyle, has what all the best defenders have - a total disregard for his own safety on the field.
