Replying To Bon: "Tell me though, would a team made up of the pick of 4 nations not be expected to beat any single nation?"
Well I see the Lions v New Zealand head to head is 30-7-4 in favour of NZ in 41 tests, so a firm no is the answer there. The Lions, like Ireland, haven't disimproved from fielding New Zealanders in their back 7 either.

Only effn rugger would get excited about 4 Countries playing playing village teams!
Replying To KillingFields: "50million aussie dollars or euros. Slight difference between the two but not great whatever it is. Hopefully they can do something to keep ot in play"
They are losing 50m dollars each year. Since the ladies competition has started attendance has went down by 60 percent and TV ratings have went down by 70 percent. That's in a 8/9 years period

Being a modest nation we give our girls it rarely gets said but LGFA was a way higher standard than AFLW. Our girls were walking on teams but you'd wonder how the AFLW clubs were being handed out money to bring in Irish girls. It must be more expensive There must be 35/40 of them playing over there this year.
The AFL for women, averages 2800, (down from 6,600 in 2019) per game (according to Wikipedia). Thats the same as the league of Ireland.
Since the increased the no of teams from 8 in 2017 to 18 in 2022, they have found that LGFA players (training in a similar game from 10 years old) are well able to compete. This will reduce over time as the newer clubs start to develop home grown talent.
There are not many professional sporting opportunities for Irish women, so they should take this one while its going. With a salary of €30k-€50k it wont make you rich, but the season is only 6 months long so time to earn income elsewhere (and some still play for their counties. Generally, its only 1 or2 players per county with the exception of the below - and of those below, Mayo are unique in that not one of the Mayo players in the AFLW plays for the county senior footballers.
There are only 12 players in the AFL with only Conor McKenna and Mark O Connor being key contributors to their teams, but still being a long way off a Jim Sytnes or Tadgh Kinnelly type impact.
I think the AFLW is currently detrimental to the LGFA , but because of the rules and welfare standards in Ireland, you couldn't blame them for going.
In the mens game, the players GAA ability grows while he is away scratching around trying to get game time in Oz. But mostly, players go out their to get serious injuries and return half the player they could have been.
