.. Based on the fact that we lost to Dublin by 1 and Kerry lost by 6 I would have to disagree..
A very simplistic way of looking at things. Not that I give a rat's ass about who is the 2nd best team in Ireland but I think most observers would agree that Kerry gave Dublin more of a test than Mayo.
Balls to that. I think most observers would agree that Maigh Eo would've beaten us. BÁC hanging on and waiting for the whistle vs pulling away in the semi. Can't prove or disprove it though!

pdempsey Win Connacht title next year. Win our quarter final against team from outside top 4. Beat Kerry in AI Semi Final (not a forgone conclusion but very possible). Another All Ireland Final......
Kerry being in the semi isnt a forgone conclusion either. Cork could be dangerous next year. But I agree with you. We could easily be back for another final in a year's time. Who knows, maybe the dubs again? And we all know about the record mayo have against defending champions...
Just like Kerry, Tyrone, Donegal et al of course mayo will be back! They are good footballers so that much is not in question!
But heres the thing for mayo: 'Being Back' is something they have been doing for a long time, so what good is it telling them that they will 'be back'!!....of course they will 'be back'!....didnt they 'come back' after last years defeat!!!!
So define 'being back'???.....Getting to another final and losing it??!!
Mayo are being 'pat on the back' and plaumaused every time a lad tells them they will 'be back' because its stating the bloody obvious for a good team like mayo coming out of their province! Its not 'being back' they need to know about its bloody 'winning'!
Not meant as slaggin!....honest opinion given here!
Another final lost but still made huge progress. In finals gone by they have been well beaten but they were the best team on Sunday. Still my favourites for next year although Dublin and i think Cork will be there also.
They're young, experienced/battle hardened, good talent coming through, will meet no opposition until the quarter final and with a lucky draw could make the semi untested. So yes plenty of hope. Psychologically they will not fear Ulster oppositiion so will probably think that if they can avoid Cork (new manager), Kerry (unpredictable and capable) and Dublin (champions) then anything can happen.
You mentioned this "better team" the other day and you seem to genuinely believe that. Your entitled to your opinion but its a minority view. The scoreboard doesn't lie. Dublin were the best team. They played poorly, were at sixs and sevens at the start but by half time were only a point down. Second half was theirs. Andy Morans goal was against the run of play but still Dublin responded quickly and even with two walking wounded Mayo couldn't close it out in last 10 (doesn't matter what way Dublin defended their lead). A better team would have punished us. I haven't seen any Mayo supporters saying they were the better team. The best team won. Dublin have won National League, Leinster and the AI. Worthy Champions. Sick isn't it!
At aido69, I'd wouldn't bother me arse responding to kingofjacks regarding the 'better team' there's a whiff of dismissive spite there. Because as you and me both know a stopped clock is always right twice a day and a scoreboard never lies.

No chance pal. One score from play in the second half, only 2 or 3 scores from play in total. Dublin with all forwards scoring, 3 open goals missed etc., 3 points up in the 71st minute and not under pressure despite limping along with 13 men. There was only 1 team in this from the 36th minute when Dublin took control, albeit playing poorly. Better team won, simple as!
