Evening Echo reporting Cian McCarthy to start for Cork, Coughlan may lose out.

Looking forward to it already.

I think neither side will have momentum going into the replay, both will have dusted themselves down and re-focused for the replay.

It will be difficult to get a game as good as the first but I think we might. Even if Clare or Cork play sweepers, the movement and skill on both sides will be enough to see another close encounter.

I predict Clare by 5 points. 1-20 to 0-18.

I also am looking forward to the replay, if its half as good as first match... will be glorious!

I think Clare are the team to beat. Their speed, skill and fearlessness are great traits. I think they will help their cause if they score goals and I think they are capable of scoring them too. It was great that Davy had the trust in his players to not employ a sweeper, and I worry for Clare if they do use a sweeper as Cork are masters of mopping up themselves with a sweeper.
Cork were outgunned the last day and yet they scored 3 goals. Their straight forward hurling was a joy to behold and they will have improved but I just feel that this Clare outfit is up for it and will have learned themselves from the experience of playing in the Big One. Its hard to beat a fearless youth and if Davy gets the tactics right, and stop Cork scoring goals, get at least one goal, then it will be hard to stop Clare.
By the way, I don't think and also hope that the referee will not be a factor.
Hopefully the game of hurling will once again prove and show itself to be the greatest game in the world!!!

Clare to win by 4 points!!!!

Hope it's true. Big fan of his. Cork need another big man in the forwards, harnedy and Cronin aren't enough

Lads, while I can understand your apprehension at McCarthy starting, he did win a lot of dirty ball in the Munster semi-final. I honestly don't think that Davy will revert to the sweeper system. I think he will go 15 v 15 again. It worked really well for them the last time( Ok, you can argue that they didn't win)and I personally don't see the reason for them to change.
I think this is why McCarthy could start. He is a very physical player, and lets be honest, we do need more physicality in the forward line.
I'm also expecting a lot more from Cronin. I believe he had not much training done between the semi and the final.
For me, Jamie Coughlan has not done enough in Cork's last two matches. I would still persist with Luke O'Farrell though, while his scoring ratio is low, he does work his socks off.
Again I can't call it on Sunday, I am really worried by this Clare team, they are a serious outfit.
For the Clare lads.. Do ye thing Honan will start?

I cant bloody wait. So many questions to be answered. First game was brilliant. In last couple of weeks iv had some great banter and debate with alot of clare fellas in here. Most seemed intellegent and coherent. I hope for the final week that everyone forgets the negatives of first match and concentrates on the positives that we have another great match to look forward to. Head unfortunately says that clare showed the last day that they have better players and on paper you would be thinking that its clares day. But corks all ireland count are riddled with wins that were never predicted 84 90 99 04 just the ones i can remember. And my heart is saying that a cork team in croke park anything is possible.

So with a couple of days to go i wish Clare the very best of luck. I predicted at the start of the year that clare would be there or there abouts and if you were playing any one other than cork id be cheering for ye.

But me heart says cork and "any give sunday " (or in this case saturday) anything can happen.

Thanks to all for the banter last couple of weeks

rebels abu !!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to this game now.

It was always rare to have this great game played at the end of September but these last 2 years have been great with the hurling running all the way up to the end of the month.

I think Clare will win but looking forward to a great game again.

I did fancy Clare but now i reckon Cork will take it. It's going to be another huge battle but i actually think Cork may ease away and win by 5-6 points in the end......

Your comments are fair regarding McCarthy. However, I would like to politely disagree. I am not sure we need more physicality in the forward line. I think we need more from Pa Cronin and Lorcan McLoughlin (not a half-forward line I know) certainly. The most physical backs of them all are the Kilkenny backs and they actually played well against us. But we did not win against them by taking them in 6 v 6 battle of who is going to be toughest. If we did we would have lost the match. Cronin and Harnedy won a few balls of them right enough, but it was our ability to create space and give enough good ball to the likes of Patrick Horgan, Daniel Kearney, Jamie Coughlan and for them to get the scores that got us over the line.

I truly believe that this is our strength. If we get the ball to Coughlan, Lehane, O'Farrell, Horgan etc they have enough skill, speed, accuracy to do damage and win us the game.

I don't want to have much of a go at Cian McCarthy. He is an honest competitor. Modern intercounty hurling requires a level of skill and speed (I read that you get something like 1.9 seconds to control and get rid of the ball-cant verify the statistic) that he simply does not possess. It is no shame as many don't. The thin is we have the players that do, we just need them to play better. I am sorry but I genuinely fear for our chances if he starts.

All that said, JBM and co see him at training. I do not. They know more than I..and in JBM we trust.

I think Cork will take it the next day, Clare have produced 2 fantastic performances in a row to beat Limerick and almost ( should have) beat Cork.I think they will struggle to replicate those performances while Cork will improve sufficiently to win by a few points.

I understand where you are coming from re McCarthy. However, if we need to get ball into the spaces for the likes of Horgan, Lehane etc, we need to win it first.I suppose I'm basing the inclusion of McCarthy purely for puck out possession. In fairness to the lad, he made an immediate impact the last day, it was unfortunate he got injured so soon. However I do agree with you that his touch isn't great, and as you have already alluded too, JBM is the man to sort our issues out, I've Total faith in him and the backroom team.
The problem is, are we better than Clare???
I guess We'll know Saturday evening.
BTW: I'm having nightmares over that Podge Collins!!!

You answered the question yourself lad!! Though, if I am being honest I don't care if we are better than them or not. They can be better than us. I am not even that worried if they are better than us on Saturday (though I am slightly). If we are ahead when the ref blows his final whistle on Saturday even if we have been completely outplayed..I will take it

If others label us the flukiest team to win an All-Ireland ever..I don't mind

If others say we are the worst team of all to win an All-Ireland (which would be utter unprovable pointless rubbish anyway)..I don't mind that either

If others say that the only reason we won was because of the referees...then let them off (pointless arguing)

We're from Cork, we're not arrogant but we are in the business of winning All-Irelands, not coming second (might as well be tenth -I know we have lost plenty of finals before anyone misinterprets what I am saying)..I know we have the players to win..I know that..I just hope we do..and if we do not..then well done to Clare and we start again next year

clare to win, cork cant get so lucky again, every ball that got into their forwards they scored the last day. I know it was amazing shooting from them but theyre bound to be more spanner-eyed this time round. Hope (for neutrals and semi-eutrals) clare dont play a sweeper, the game will be much better to watch

Superb posts from BennyBunny and Richie. See ya Saturday evening lads........from a Clare perspective...I say this no arrogance, no talk no bull, just praying we can achieve a dream. Would only be our fourth ever Senior and I know there are many who would begrudge us but that doesn't matter. Cork are Cork and yes I'm nervous. We can only pray both sets of supporters.

Game on

Clare were far superior last day but ended up lucky to walk away with the draw. Will Cork allow themselves to be dominated like that again? I doubt it. Have Clare another level to go up? I doubt it. Makes for a hell of a 70 odd minutes.

Head saying Cork

i feel cork cannot be as bad again, clare hurled well the last day but never finished cork off.podge collins had the chance to bury them and missed.big games turn on small margins and that was a huge turning point.
for me,if cork get more out of cronin, lehane (bar the goal,i thought he was poor) and o'farrell i think they will win it.
