Dublin played off the cuff from 2005-2009 and were great to watch but they have learned and taken on lots of the modern game on board. I noticed the difference between the two Tyrone games of 2008 and 2010. Even with the two games against Kerry in 2011 and 2013 they stuck with the system and came out top in the end. While Dublin have a great panel it does not seem to work that teams will have long periods of dominance there is always someone waiting to knock you down. As for Kerry they took lessons from the Ulster teams in 2002/03 and they will have to adapt again to get back on top. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1792 - 04/09/2013 20:33:17 1475356 Link 0 |
Yes, the important point regarding the age profile of the Kerry side is the average age of their best players! Cooper would be expected to be around for another few years but the likes of Galvin and the O'Se's may not be! The older players get in the modern game the more injuries come into the fore. Our own Alan Brogan is a prime example. Kerry will still produce AI winning teams but perhaps not in the same way as in the last 20 years. Dublin, Donegal, Armagh and Tyrone(3) have beaten them with defensive games to win titles and Dublin have just beaten them expansively to reach another decider. Perhaps Dublin have been the first team in a while to beat a performing Kerry team at their own game. Kerry may be on their way down while others are progressing but Kerry will plateau and come again. That much id be confident! seany16 (Dublin) - Posts: 1663 - 04/09/2013 20:46:51 1475369 Link 0 |

Theres nothing wrong with the Kerry approach , a kick of a ball and sub here or there was the only difference , another day your through to an all Ireland and everybody's your friend , your approach with younger legs is whats needed , would be a dreadful day if Kerry succumbed to whats been shown up as short term glory approach . There is plenty wrong with the Kerry approach, they play mighty fine football thats for sure but they're not going to win anything without a more modern day game plan. Their refusal to do so may produce pretty football but its not adding any slivarware to the cabinet. I thought with the new management we would see a more Ulster Like approach from Kerry, if you can't beat em join em type of approach which counties such as Dublin and Mayo have submitted to. cacsmckilly (Tyrone) - Posts: 1294 - 05/09/2013 10:44:49 1475543 Link 0 |

cacsmckilly, considering only 1 semi-finalist used such tactics, that they were the poorest performing team of the 4 and are now out, I would suggest you are a little off with that conclusion... TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 05/09/2013 11:47:47 1475596 Link 0 |
