Great year for Ulster Hurling with Antrim's win today plus Down's Christy Ring Championship. Great year for hurling in general. Antrim can make the progress like Dublin have done in recent years. They have the population, but need to put the time and money and resoursrs in at underage level. Is there Belfast lads on the team that beat Wexford today? Well done. . doubletree (Dublin) - Posts: 164 - 24/08/2013 20:55:00 1467274 Link 0 |
massive result for Antrim and hurling in general. fair play to them. a great year for the game. Wexford will be gutted though. massive chance to get to an AI final missed but best team won on the day. Clareman (Clare) - Posts: 1056 - 24/08/2013 21:10:14 1467292 Link 0 |

Half the team is from Belfast and the other half from Dunloy, Ballycastle, Cushendall and Shamrocks. Very evenly split and their captain McGreavy is from St. Galls. A fair few players from St. John's on the team as well. Great job by Kevin Ryan - he did warn everyone that this group was special and would be hard to beat. Tough task awaiting with Clare. Also a couple of players from other football stronghold clubs like Creggan. portavogielad (Down) - Posts: 446 - 24/08/2013 21:22:01 1467313 Link 0 |

Absolute.y nothing against Care but can you imagine the lift hurling would get if Antrim could win this? slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 25/08/2013 11:17:38 1467433 Link 0 |
Could make or break Antrim hurling for the foreseeable, a bit like Dublin in '61, losing that AI final sent us back a long way, right up until this year! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8746 - 25/08/2013 11:37:11 1467450 Link 0 |
When Antrim play Clare in the All Ireland u21 hurling final there will be many Ulster Scotch accents as Antrim are closer to Scotland than they are to Munster. This geographical isolation is a massive handicap to Antrim hurling in their preparations. Will Croke Park take note of this and help Antrim financially to promote hurling? I doubt it very much this type of help stops in Dublin. Next year they will most likely give the beaten Leinster and Munster Finalists a second bite of the cherry to keep the boys with the scotch tongues in their place. Sorry for being a pessimist but GAA headquarters will see Antrim's appearance in the final as downgrading the competition. Isolatedantrim (Antrim) - Posts: 31 - 25/08/2013 12:04:00 1467461 Link 0 |

O'Connor Park seems a central choice. Antrim may have no issues returning to Thurles. Come on Antrim. portavogielad (Down) - Posts: 446 - 25/08/2013 13:16:06 1467502 Link 0 |
