Well folks, what do you think? Teams are going to shake each others hands in a line ala soccer style. I've no problem with that. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8756 - 11/08/2013 11:41:55 1458498 Link 0 |
Players shake hands anyway. Why imitate them yokes? They shake hands and then bite one another! hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 11/08/2013 11:47:58 1458503 Link 0 |
Complete load of rubbish which won't make a bit of difference and I have no idea why it is being brought in if it is. TBH if I was a player I think I just wouldn't bother with such a pointless load of rubbish. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 11/08/2013 11:51:48 1458509 Link 0 |
But in soccer players don't have the face to face meeting with their direct opponent for a handshake like in gaa so I don't see a need for another one. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6347 - 11/08/2013 11:51:50 1458510 Link 0 |
I agree with hurlingdub. Why make such a big ceremony of it? Shaking hands after is more important than shaking hands before. roundball (Tipperary) - Posts: 2514 - 11/08/2013 11:59:35 1458518 Link 0 |

have we not got enough controversy this weather? lol I think we have enough pre match rituals with the parade before finals and the anthem before all games, do we really need to mimic a handshake ritual from a game we should be trying to distance ourselves from given the modern pettiness that exists in soccer today. Soliders don't shake hands before going to war, I know football isn't the same but on the pitch its a different type of war .. No need for it waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 11/08/2013 12:13:04 1458529 Link 0 |
what a load of rubbish.surprised at this to be honest.players shake hands when they take their place on the field.thats how it always was and should remain. kavvie (Clare) - Posts: 505 - 11/08/2013 12:14:23 1458531 Link 0 |
Won't make a blind bit of difference with five minutes to go. If players have to be dragged down to protect a lead they will be. Happened in Thurles . Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6180 - 11/08/2013 12:39:36 1458553 Link 0 |

If you want to shake hands with the player you are marking/anyone else on the opposition wait until the game is over. Try do your best to beat/trick/win against your opponents and then shake hands afterwards. ormondbannerman (Clare) - Posts: 13473 - 11/08/2013 12:56:46 1458566 Link 0 |
I don't see the point in it myself, but it's no harm. God some people on here get so bothered by the daftest things MayoMark (Mayo) - Posts: 332 - 11/08/2013 13:23:07 1458592 Link 0 |
Worst idea ever. Shake hands with the lad your marking and leave it at that. No need for more niceties. I know the camogie teams do it but this is a stupid, rubbish idea and one I hope is for one day only. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 11/08/2013 13:50:40 1458619 Link 0 |
Absolute nonsense. What kind of rubbish ideas will these guys in Croke Park come upwith next. 11 a side maybe and do away with points and handling the ball. Star Gazer (Tipperary) - Posts: 436 - 11/08/2013 13:59:34 1458627 Link 0 |
