As i said when the final opponents became known, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ballinagh beat them and that's exactly what happened.. Congratulations, it just goes to show if you work hard enough you can do it.

Well done Ballinagh and best of luck in Ulster. Roslea will be minus Seamus and Sean Quigley, both straight red in a League final today.

Very sad to see that a great team like the Gaels get defeated in another final.
A lot of things went against them and indeed the a few decisions by Officials on the sideline and in the middle of the park contributed to this result

Are you talking about the Gaels officials or the the people in Black.

If you are pointing at the men in black I suggest you remove your blinkers and look in the other direction ???

Ballinagh fans out numbered Gaels fans 2 to 1 referee and lines men very fair as a neutral I couldn't fault them. Thought Kieran mccardle done well let the game flow

Harsh call big time on Gaynor Packie should have called Kieran at what was happening prior to the second yellow and a red. At the end of the day he has his senior medal and I am pleased for him.

If I was the manager of that gales team I would dispense with all the advisors just the manager plus intermediate manager and a good trainer they would be unbeatable at both levels such raw talent being wasted this needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.

your right Tom, in the middle of the park, ye were well beat, the O'Reillys completely cdominated. And your correct about the officials on the line, how they didn't see this happening and make changes is beyond me!

Some result.

Would never have predicted it. Especially after Cavan Gaels beat Castlerahan, Mullahoran and Kingscourt on the way to the final.

Well done Ballinagh and congrats on your 1st Senior Title.

Well done to Ballinagh and its great to see the cup go to a different club (4 different clubs in last 4 years) which can only be good for our championship and it might give some other teams some confidence that it can be done...

As usual with clubs that don't win anything that often (or at all), savage effort is put in over the years from these clubs and they do deserve their day in the sun..

Congrats to Ballinagh on a wonderful win. Probably one of the biggest upsets in Cavan county final history!!Just goes to show that no team is unbeatable if the attitude and commitment is right from all the panel and management. Seems the 2 Reilly brothers ruled midfield for Ballinagh and Niall McDermott proved once again what a great talent he is. There were probably loads of other stars right through the team and I'm sure Terry will have noted a few names.
Must be a huge letdown for this Gaels squad but I think they are mostly young and with a few newcomers like the Graham bros and the return of Niall Smith, Conor McClarey etc expect the Gaels to win a few titles over the next few years. Also the loss of Paul O'Connor so early was a big hit.
So best of luck to Ballinagh in Ulster and go easy on the celebrations!!

Cavan Gaels form hasn't been impressive in the Championship , at all. One good in the performance in the Semi against a Castlerahan side that didn't show up. Ballinagh have good previous results against Cavan Gaels, biggest shock ever? I don't think so. They are not Crossmaglen.

Great win for Ballinia. Fully deserved. Led from pretty much the outset and seemed the hungrier team. Full back line should get a lot of credit also for keeping on paper an unmarkable full forward line quiet! Padraic O'Reilly was excellent. Felt they could have gotten more out of McDermott. Was very reliable on frees and contributed a lot in through those alone, but I felt he was constantly being forced to come very far out the field to get on the ball. Impressive win considering this!

Could the fixture list on the main site be correct? Denn to play Belturbet in Mullahoran in senior championship relegation play-off at 8.15 on Friday night and then play Cavan Gaels in the League on Sunday morning at 12.Surely the relegation play off would have been a good curtain raiser for the Intermediate final on Sunday.

yes because its impossible to figure out which minor final was staged before the Junior Final

I just hope teams from the right divisions turned up

odd
