The game was won and lost last night in these key areas.

1. The gaels full forward line were immense and unplayable last night IMO. Collecting the ball out in front of the defender almost every time before either beating their man or laying for well taken scores. Their movement made the passes from further out the pitch easier. I wouldn't criticise the Castlerahan full back line too much. They are young and have talent in there but did get a lesson last night.

2. Lyng won 4 out of the first 5 breaks from kick outs setting the tone for Gaels dominance in midfield. And overall he had a great game.

3. Castlerahans kick outs were poor and got worse as the Gaels looked to bury the game in the second half.

The cynical fouling of Mackey served as a side show and didn't contribute to their winning of the game. It was a shame to see though.

Stephen Cooney is worth mentioning for Castlerahan. He was was their main carrier out of defense at pace but was not supported enough.

Seanorinn: What do you mean by gaels advisers? Who are these experts. Are they hired in from outside counties and how are you Sean prevy to this? As you said before you are not a gaels man. Eyeball!

Sorry for stating these obvious odds once again.

Cavan Gaels 1/9
Ballinagh 9/2

Mr Edenburt, when I asked your advice before the quarter final you said it was to early to back anyone. Would it be advisable to back the Gaels now?

Id say yes, if you were going to put 9 grand on them

if you bet on the Gaels and they win you will realise 11% return but as its a two horse race there is a chance that things could conspire to help Ballinagh
So as you are the person obsessed with odds you should be well able to judge for yourself

I'm sure somebody as enlightened as yourself will know what to do

Ballinagh win 0-12 to 0-11. Ballinagh deserve it by all accounts as they kept their noses in front for most of the match. Congrats Ballinagh on your win, delighted for ye

Absolutely delighted for Ballinagh, what a result for them! Their first Cavan SFC title and well deserved! Good luck to them in Ulster!

Well well well. I didn't give Ballinagh a chance but ya can only take your hats of the them. Deserved to win on the day by all accounts. Their defence did a great job on the Gaels forward line, especially Johnston & Dunne. Got the luck of the draw to get to the Final and i don't think anyone could say they didn't deserve to win today. Again, well done!

Well done to Ballinagh. Great to see a new team win . I came through Ballinagh on Friday night and it was great to see all the bunting and good luck signs up. I'm sure the support gives the players am extra bit of confidence . In contrast you wouldn't know Cavan Gaels were in the final.

Tomsmith here

Very sad to see that a great team like the Gaels get defeated in another final.
A lot of things went against them and indeed the a few decisions by Officials on the sideline and in the middle of the park contributed to this result

BALLINAGH SHOULD BE AN EXAMPLE TO EVERY CLUB IN THE COUNTY.THEY PLAYED TO THEIR STRENTHS AND THE GAELS JUST DID NOT HAVE THE HEART FOR THE BATTLE.INDIVIDUALS DONT WIN GAMES AND THATS WHAT THE GAELS LOOKED LIKE,A TEAM OF INDIVIDUALS.THIS RESULT CAN ONLY DO GOOD FOR CAVAN FOOTBALL,WELL DONE BALLINAGH !

Ballinagh fans out numbered Gaels fans 2 to 1 referee and lines men very fair as a neutral I couldn't fault them. Thought Kieran mccardle done well let the game flow
