Mayo V Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Lots of talk about Aidan O Se but we also have Seamus O Se who is just as effective. O'Se probably wont have a game like he did against Donegal and won't be given space but we have other players who can hurt Donegal. Big Barry Moran can also be sprung from the bench and Michael Conroy from all accounts may be fit for some game time.

It will be a close game. Really looking forward to it.

any chance we could actually get their name O'Shea correct? Likewise for Cavanagh not Kavanagh as some posters insist on using

1462642 The last semi Tyrone & mayo played in was 2008 and we all know how that ended up. Will history repeat or will Mayo make their own. Both teams are now well warmed up so Good luck and may the best team win.

Mayo and Tyrone havent played each other in the semi final since 1989.

They havent even played a quarter final against each other since 2004.

final round of qualifiers in 2008.

YewTree, you have it in one. Conroy is back fit for this game and from what I have heard, flying. This is the last man conor gormley will want to see coming!

Good to hear Conroy is back, has a proven track record for big games and increases our goal scoring chances

The o'sheas are class in fairness I wish they would come home and play for the kingdom, although we have some fantastic players in midfield our selfs but we could play the o'sheas in the backs maybe, you could see Aidan playing centre back.

His ONLY position is centrefield.

This is a different Mayo team to those in the past. As I have said before, the teams in 04 and 06 were average teams who punched above their weight. This team is not reliant on any one player and I fully expect them to adapt to whatever tactics they are faced with. Off the pitch they are also being managed brilliantly, very low key. Mayo I feel have too much in the legs and will win.

You have to fancy Mayo for this but I would love to see the Red Hands overturn the Landgrabbers

Ah sure we could put maher at centreback and O'Shea at midfield, oh to have that problem.

Pleased for Conor that he is able to play. Its all to play for and Tyrone v Mayo to me is a 50/50 game. Tyrone have cut their teeth on winning four games by two points while you just wonder what will happen when Mayo get involved in a tight semi-final. To be fair to Mayo its not their fault they have not been tested so far in this way but nevertheless it could be an issue.

There is a difference between the mayo side of today and 7 years ago, management. They were equally talented. Just couldnt get it together to win on the final day. This mayo team have an opportunity to do that, we will see

They certainly were not equally talented. I could go through it player by player if you want but we all know we had Ciaran Mc and Mortimer who were relied on heavily to get the scores. We now have a forward unit who are not dependent on anyone and they all work their asses off for each other.

Mayo and Tyrone met in an epic minor final in 2008 that went to a replay. I remember Aidan O'Shea having a stormer in the drawn game. Who are the other players from those minor teams that will likely be playing next day?

From what I can remember there's only AOS and R Hennely from 08 minors , with Shane Mchale and nally on the panel, the star lad from castlebar that year was a.walsh he has never broke into senior squad though.

Flaker,

I suppose if the current mayo team played the mayo team of the last decade they would win, but within the context of the time and who was out there, there is little or no difference between them in terms of how much better they are to the field. All right, Mayo have played outstanding stuff this year, but so to did the team of several years ago.

the Mayo team have a chance to go a step further this year for sure, and when they do, they can take their rightful mantle.
