Mayo V Tyrone

fortyfive, but they are cute, they are sly. They have used such things to get through their last 3 games, of course it should be highlighted. What is your alternative? That people ignore it? Surely, ignoring the truth is the conspiricy, not pointing it out?

This from the man who went ape when Brolly pointed out Mayo's cute & sly "tactic" of consistent fouling to get through games last year.
Master, this time you have outdone yourself. I am lost in admiration!!!

muckross, if aidan o'shea was every bit as guilty for rugby tackling as sean cavanagh, then you would ahve a point. Just like donegal were every bit as guilty as mayo last year, which went unhighlighted. How many more times does that need to be explained to you?

To edit a speech a wise mam once said

"I've kept really quiet but I'll tell you something, the GAA have went down in my estimations when they banned Gormley.

"You can tell them now, we're still fighting for this title and Mayo have got to go to Croker and get something. And I'll tell you, honestly, I will love it if we beat them. Love it.

"But it really has got to me. I've voiced it live (on hoganstand) not in front of the press or anywhere. I'm not even going to the press conference. But the battle is still on and Mayo have not won this yet."

I think Gormley will win on appeal but the whole process is disruptive to Tyrone preparations which is probably what some people want from it. Mayo definitely strong favourites even before this. Aidan O Shea and Cillian O Connor in particular look very very good this year.

sam09, mayo didnt ban anybody. Mabe it might suit this 'all against us' thing you lads are trying your utmost to push to try to lump us all in together, but it isnt the case. Mayo are a good football team who have gone about their business in an honest and hardworking manner all year. All this talk about mayo taking their eye off the ball and peaking too soon is only going to motivate them further and focus their minds on the task at hand.

To Farmers Foxes are nothing but vermin and if you watch the Tyrone v Monaghan game from the first hop of the ball Martin Carney referred to Tyrone players as cute as a fox sly as a fox ect.... to me it was derogatory continuing throughout the game with these remarks I hope those Tyrone fans who can't make it down to croker listen to it on Radio Ulster or the BBC much more class in the way the BBC studio pundits conduct themselves more mature and intellectual debate . I hope Gormley is exonerated and free to play in the game ahead .

I am not sure Carney meant the cute/sly comments as an insult. I think it may have been somewhat of a round about compliment. Don't know this for a fact but I would think that was the case.

Looking forward to a great battle on Sunday week! Mayo will be favourites on the back of their quarter-final display, which I think suits Tyrone. It's also highly unlikely that Mayo will get as much space as they did against Donegal; likely the Red Hands will pack the middle third and break all the kickouts. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the how the O'Shea brothers fare against the Cavanaghs.

Tyrone will be up for this one, no doubt. Recent events will allow Harte to create a siege mentality in the camp, and I expect them to throw themselves into every challenge. However, I expect Mayo to break even at midfield and they have more options up front at the mo, which hopefully will be enough to see them over the line. I'm tipping Mayo by a couple.

The minor semi should be a cracker: Mayo have been very impressive so far, and have blitzed all before them. Being abroad at the mo, I haven't been able to follow the minor championship so closely, so don't know so much about Tyrone. But the counties have had some great battles at underage levels with often just a kick of the ball in it, and I would expect more of the same.

You obviously disnt follow Mayo's games either. Beat Galway after extra time in the opening game and were luckly not to conceed a late goal to Roscommon to force extra time. Hardly blitzing all before them. Think you are confusing the senior and minor teams

Has to mixing the two up and it's Monaghan that Mayo will be playing.

No shying away from confidence from me and i repeat, most people including a lot of our own support do not realise how good Mayo are. Best Mayo team ever, will win Sam Maguire at a canter.

Well Sean it's safe to say Mayos best team was 1950/51. This years team has the chance to match 1996/97 by reaching back to back All Ireland finals and unless they win the All Ireland the word best won't be used.

Not necessarily true. Obviously that was the best team relative to the other teams in an era. However, it doesnt follow that it was the best Mayo team ever.

Mayo aren't far off Tyrone in terms of cynical tactics, they just don't get talked about as much because they happen to play very enjoyable attacking football as well. Even against Donegal in every break of play there was a Mayo man kicking the ball away or standing in front of the Donegal men so they'd take an extra 5-10 secs on their free. Now of course it didn't matter because Mayo were far superior on the day, but I do think Tyrone and Mayo are the two 'cutest' sides in the country.

Cue the Mayo lads reminding me of my bitterness from last years semi final, not bitter lads just the truth.

Fair cop, though as I said, have been away and haven't seen so much minor football this year. Was still very impressed with the Mayo minors against Westmeath, though.

I would disagree with you there CaisleanCnucha, I think people notice our cynicism more because we win games. I would say donegal are more cynical, and were last year also, as are monaghan and obviously tyrone. I think we come in next but are a step behind these guys. Kerry are not far behind us, and cork on occasion. Whisper it dublin are in and around that level too. Noticing a trend? The successful teams incorperate it.
